They don't get snow days because they are teachers, it's because it's deemed unsafe for YOUR children. In most school systems, there are usually 3 snow days built into the budget and salary. After that, if they have a snow day, it's unpaid.

Everyone thinks teachers have it made. After having my wife and 2 daughters work for the school system, it's not nearly as rosey as most believe. But that's for another thread.

I got the call last night at 11pm when I was on my way home from pissing off some unnamed peoples neighbors with snowmachines.

National Weather Service put Flint's totals at just under 9" and Holly at just over 7"... combined with blowing and drifting I had spots that were over a foot deep this morning.

regardless, I am happy to have the day off work and am not a teacher either :)

In Ohio we had yesterday and today off, which sucked. Today was supposed to be a short day with the final and go home for a long weekend, now we are here until at least tomorrow night, possibly Friday.

I had the day off, which was nice because I was suppose to present my research background paper to a couple teachers, and I was working on it last night when the school called my house. I told myself I would work on it today earlier, but I ended up starting at quarter to 9 and am still not done writing the paper.
