Default Is this considered creepy/stalkerish?

I won a car via an online auction (repocast). I went to Grand Rapids today and towed it back. It's wrecked, I just want it for parts.

No history on the car. While signing the paperwork, they have me sign the title that they had for it. While signing it by buddy memorizes the previous owners name and address that is on the title. They load up the car and we go on the drive from hell in the snow back to Tecumseh. We check out the PO's info while in the car and came up with a phone number for him.

I call him when I get home from 3 hours of white knuckle terror. I left a message stating who I was, that I just bought a car that was his, and just wanted a little history on it. I end the call with "I appreciate your time" and leave my number. I'm always super polite.

My wife says that's creepy. I don't give a fukc myself, the worst that could happen is that he won't call back.

Not lot people like to get phone call like that.

I used to do then they explained me it wasn't good idea just start with normal conversation then ask if they could say about cars history.

Let say 80% people haven't respond your messages. 20% who is friendly and would answer call.

Unfortunately, I didn't offer up any handjobs or spontaneous anal action.

I stated where I was from in the message, so he knows I live far enough away not to rape him. Besides, it's a 13 year old Volvo wagon that I got for $250.

I think its for this reason that they shouldn't have the PO info when transferring a car through auction.

My grandfather (this is a 40 yo story) turned in some POS mercury comet to the dealer because he didn't feel right selling it as he thought he had wrung all the life out of it. In reality it was likely a fine car, because his definition of rotted and trashed was a dime sized spot of surface rust and he was fanatically clean, but anyway, a guy calls him up and said the he just bought the car for his elderly mother, wanted to know what kind of car it was. Made him sick. He was one of those people who never bought used as it was "someone else's headache".

That said, I would call you back.

I don't think that's creepy. I would gladly answer any questions someone had about a car I used to own. I would probably ask how they found out I was a previous owner... but it wouldn't bother me.

There was an older Honda Accord in a Firestone parking lot. I asked about it and they said a kid hit a curb and it needed $1,500 in repairs. I got into the car, found an I.D badge for his work or something, facebook'd the kid and found his number/address because I wanted to buy the car from him.

THAT is stalkerish lol.

I use to buy cars from the VOA auction. First thing I would do when i was interested in a vehicle was to search the glovebox for contact info on the PO. I would always call, most people were polite and answered all my questions.

The guy never did call me back. Doesn't matter though, I found the T-belt replacement sticker, which is all I wanted anyway.
