Default hydro boost vacuum??

hey guys i have a v10 2001 with hydro boost brakes but on the back of my intake plenum theres a open vacuum port where the vacuum booster would hook to whats supposed to plug in there? its wide open sucking air damn dealer don't even know the past owner did remove the big air pump lines for some reason but the pump is still being driven could that have something to do with it?
heres a link to a pic i took it's right above the trans tube the orange pointer is touching it

I thought it was suppose to just be a large cap/plug over that.

The Dealer can't not know what is supposed to be there. The shop manual would contain that information. I don't have my V10 handy, so I can't go check.

Yeah- I think that I'd be looking up another dealer..... that's not right. If you are in the least bit framilliar with reading schematics, there should be a vaccum routing schematic under the hood somewhere- maybe on the radiator support. That MAY contain what you are looking for.

I'd just plug it, then.

I would plug it and go from there. That would cause a high idle and a bunch of other stuff and the computer would compensate for it...most likely that is why it stalls out. Cap it and let us know of the changes.

PM me directly if you need more info and I can grab a tech and/or look up the schematic.

I am quite certain all you need to do is cap that port.

Something else is missing here...... Maybe an intake manifold leak or something...... Not having a vaccum leak should make it run more rich, but not that rich.... maybe a combination of that and a timing advance to make up for it???? I'm scratching my head here. Any check engine light on? The dealership should at the very least be able to hook up their OBD2 scanner and see what specifically it's affecting besides fuel mixture and idle.....

Are you maybe missing a PCV valve?

I think you either have multiple issues or yoou are not giving the computer enough time to correct the mixture. It generally takes a good number (3-30) key cycles/warm ups to learn any changes. That is a non mas airflow engine I believe and thus learns a bit slower. Plug it and go for a ride/ try it for a few days.

As for the codes...Auto Zone and the other big chain stores scan for free.

if it is overfueling as much as you describe, that is not something the computer will correct for, that is another problem...I would suggest not running it for long if it is overfueling to the point of black smoke and the smell of raw fuel...that could easily be raw fuel in your exhuast, which could lead to a fire

cap the hose and disconnect the battery for a few minutes to delete the fuel trim. Reconnect the battery and give er a shot?

Matter of fact, disconnect the battery for a while anyhoe and take it back to autozone to see if the computer returns a P1000 like it should

BTW your v10 is an 8.0 liter engine. And with hydroboost brakes Im assuming its in a 1ton dually with a 4:10 or 4:56 gear in a dana 80 rear. I would think 5.5mpg isnt far off from normal
