Default Nurses/ med techs... what shoes?

I'm starting a new job (new career, even) a week from Monday, and I'll be working in a pharmacy lab. I've been told to wear comfortable shoes, because I'll be standing for pretty much the entire day (except for lunch).

Now, I've used those ridiculous Z-coils shoes back when I was doing rounds at Ford plants and standing/ walking for 14-16 hours a day. Those actually worked OK, but I've been told there's better shoes out there for less than $200 a pair.

So what do you wear? Cross-trainers? Jogging shoes? I'm mainly looking for suggestions that aren't Z-coils or Crocs.

Thanks in advance.

My wife is a nurse and she swears by her Crocs. The other common shoes she sees amongst the surgeons and other nurses are Danskos, the Birkenstock version of the crocs and Merrells believe it or not. She's on her feet 12+ hours a day and never complains about achy feet/ legs.
