Samsung hands down. If you want a TV more than a few years, stay away from cheap crap.

The samsung is a plasma and my only concern is them looking a little dark. We currently love our 40" sony lcd but just want something between 55 to 58

One thing to think about if it is an issue at your place is lighting. If there is a lot of exterior light that comes through, a plasma will have a lot of glare. Getting an LCD with the matte finish cuts down on any glare significantly.

If you are looking at a plasma, stay with Panasonic. They make a much better plasma in terms of reliability. And depending on your room and when you watch TV, a plasma isn't too bad. They just look terribly dim when next to an LCD. Just keep it away from really bright rooms with lots of direct sunlight
