Default best place to buy tube bender, plasma cutter.

Im looking to get rid of my kinker, and buy a nice tube bender, JD2 model 3, or maybe a pro tools. Also lookin to buy a small plasma, maybe a Hobart 250? Where would be the best place=cheapest to get hooked up? Im not looking to spent thousands of $$$$, but dont want to buy junk. Also, what is everyone using, how do you like it?

I have the model 32 from JD2 and it is great. Makes nice bends, basically it is the updated version of the model 3 to handle bigger material. When I bought mine they were on sale direct from JD2.com for $395, may still be that price.

Including a die?

It cost me about $600 for my JD2, with degree wheel, 1.5" 180 degree die, a homemade stand and an infinite8 adapter for the mount. I bought it from trick-tools.

If you are buying, I'd get on pirate4x4, and talk to some of the vendors there, you can get good deals.

I have about $475 into my got-trikes bender, the die alone is around $285 (1.75 x 240*). Thats with air-over-hydro.

I could sell my bender for the right price, might be too much for your budget but there is a build thread on here for it. I have 2.0, 1.75 and 1.5 dies for it and it is hydraulic. It is a JD2 model. I think I have about $1500 into it.

We recently bought another Pro-Tools 105HD for $300 for the R&D shop from this guy http://www.mikegreen4x4.com/ We bought the degree ring also but to be honest we never use it. We just use an el-cheapo jumbo angle finder that seems to work much better. Unless you are doing a ton of repeat bends I can't see ever taking the time to mess with it.

That's a tough one....we've had it for about 6-7 years. Maybe McMaster-Carr but I am not sure. Give me a few minutes, I might think of it.

Edit: Actually I think Pro-Tools as a couple of really nice angle finders similar to what we have...not where we got ours but it is an option for you.

Edit II: Sorry I was wrong (it's Friday). Not Pro-Tools but Trick Tools http://vansantent.com/angle_finders.htm I think ours was cheaper...in the $20-30 range.

Yes. The die was most of that cost of course. I did not mention that I already had the air over hydraulic ram so there is another 80 bucks. I had most of the steel laying around as well.

I paid $150 for mine all jacked up. It'll be around $300 before I get it working correctly.

You are probably looking on the vendor areas, you cannot post up a new thread there without being a yellow star vendor. You can however post up reply's to their thread and start your own threads on just about any other part of the site.

You guys can also check out the bender that pirate member dopeasjackson is making. I bought one and it was 300 to my door and is setup to use the $90 harbor freight 10 ton air over hydro cylinder and the jd2 model 3 die. He has a post up for it in the tools for sale part of pirate. I still need to get my die, clyinder and to make a stand for it.
