Default bumper opinions...

those of you that make the stubby front bumpers for yjs/cjs/tjs what are your opinions. I normally use 2x4x3/16 rectangle tube for the bumper. I can get 2x4x1/4 a lot cheaper for some reason, must sell more of it or something. Is 1/4" wall to heavy. And by heavy I don't mean weight wise, you can build a beefy bumper, but all that is going to do is transfer the jolt somewhere down the frame if you hit something hard. So is heavy worse in this case and best to stick with 3/16" wall or is 1/4 perfect for this application?
