Default Hawaii?

I need to go on vacation, like September! So, is Hawaii good to do, say for a weeks worth of vacation? Where? So many places! I like it calm, romantic, and quiet, with stuff to do and lots of alcohol to drink, and I need to get into one of those night hawaii partyies and pig roasts, and ecuse my speling tonight. I need input badly.

It's eiter dat or cheap it out to Myrtle beach, whic hI have not been to either, so I have no clue.

Last time I was in Hawaii was in july, but it was still great, not too hot, water warm etc.

For the luau etc you'll want to be on the big island or ohau(honalulu) but you can always take a flight over there for a night.

For the quiet peaceful etc Maui is Excellent, beautiful everything, quiet and none of the traffic of ohau. Or, stay on oahu , but on the north or est side of the island away from the tourists.

BigMak may be able to help you out more.

North coast of Maui, tropical storm 100 miles to the north, sun coming up over the horizon (like 3am or something stupid) just after finishing some Maui Wowi

Hahaha sorry, I guess I didn't help much with that reply.

Soon as I finish what I'm working on I will give my opinion on the different islands.

if you want the night life i sudgest you stay down town (honalulu). only problem is thats the tourist trap. but most of the best bars and clubs are there. Turtle Bay Resort i heard is nice. its on the north windward(east) side. it would be nice and quiet. every hotel in hawaii has a bar to my knoledge
you have to absolutly have to! go to the Polynesian Cultural Center. one of the cooliest tourist things i did.
Arizona Memorial i highly sudjest you go early!!
Diamond Head State Monument is suposed to be a nice hike.
the Dole plantation is cool
if you are up for some wheeling see if you can get a ride on a pecock flats run with the oahu jeepers. thats a part of hawaii most people never see. http://oahujeepers.proboards107.com/ if you want more info on OJ let me know. im still a member.

Based on that description, Maui would be the spot. It is very laid back and has all that you are looking for. I would stretch the time out as long as possible since it is a long trip, but a week to 10 days would be good.

I went in '98. Can't wait to go again.

I spent 3 nights on Ohau, 6 on the Big Island, and 6 on Maui.

If I was comparing them to Michigan it'd go like this...

Ohau is like southeast Michigan, mostly developed, lots of people, lots of traffic. I'd stay just long enough to see the major attrachtion and move on

Maui is like the tourist areas of lower Michigan. Fun, lots to do, but real "touristy" If you like the tourist resort atmosphere this is for you.

The Big Island is like the UP. Not many people. Some areas are built up but still lots of wide open places in between.

Make sure you go to kapiolani park in waikiki. And for NO reason, should you miss going to fusion waikiki. This is probably the best bar I have ever been to!

You should look into staying at "The Outrigger Waikiki" Great hotel.

right near downtown, the northern part of the island is very nice. if you have a cycle endorsment rent a harley and ride around the edge of the Island, takes most of the day stopping ang sight seeing. another bonus is cycles and scooters get to park up front at most attractions. with rental cars you get to walk for miles sometimes.

Agree'd, although the bike ride down the volcano looked fun

veyr big and sparse, the volcano national park is just awe inspiring. also the best snorkeling is at Keauhou, salt and pepper beach beautiful fishes and turtles.
Kauai is very lush and relaxing, you can find almost deserted beaches to have all to yoursellf. the resorts are more catered towards relaxation and enjoying the veiws. lots of waterfalls. also a helicopter ride over/in the Waimea canyon is a must. find some friends and book in advance for a discounted flight

I spent 10 days in Kauai last year and loved it. I wanted to get away from all the people and this is the island to do it. We found a little secluded beach that we went to 4 different times while we were there and there was never anybody else there (no tan line sunbathing ). Lots of waterfalls to go look at and several that you are allowed to jump over and into the water. We did the helicopter 1/2 day trip where they dropped us off in the middle of the island to our own private waterfall and left us with a picnic lunch. They came back about an hour later to pick us up. We took ATVs up into the hills and through some old sugar cane fields. We did a one day boat cruise with snorkeling and whale watching up the Pinalli (spelling?) coast. We also went zip-lining across the tops of valleys which was really cool. We did one Luau that was great. We did the entire ceremony of raising the pig from out of the ground where it was cooking in coals and palm leaves. Kauai is not as developed as any of the other islands, but still has plenty to do.

I was there in 1993. 3 nights on Oahu, 2 nights on the Big Island, and 5 nights on Maui.

Stayed in Honolulu while on Oahu. It kinda sucked. Very hustle and bustle.

Big Island we stayed in Kona. It was very peaceful. Walked up the volcano and got to stand right next to a small lava flow. Nice scenery.

Maui we stayed in Lahaina. By far the best island. Beatiful beaches. Great sight seeing. The road to Hana was very cool. Stop at the seven pools for a dip. Don't turn around in Hana. Keep going all the way around. It's awesome.

Weather is 75-85 all year round. If I won the lottery I would live there.

Turtle Bay Resort is nice, I have been there. Good surf at the north end of the island. Big Mak is also correct about the polynesian cultural center and the Diamond Head State Park is AWESOME, its a great view, but you do need to be able to hike a little. Also be sure to check out Hanuama Bay, it is gorgeous, you will find that on the southeastern tip of Oahu.
