Default Joe Louis parking

Haggars question in the monster jam thread got me thinking...

I'm going to a Wings game on the 23rd of this month. Having never been to the Joe before, how is parking? Are there any places that are better than others? We plan on getting there plenty early, and checking out a casino or two. I need to do some logistical research but any advice or tips would be appreciated. Thanks

quite a few local bars shuttle wings fans to the games for free. Hard rock and andrews on the corner are the ones i've been to.
people mover from greektown will work also.

xBazillion on Greektown. It's free, and you don't have to deal with beggars. Bring $1.00 a person in quarters for the Muggermover and you'll be all set.

Greektown! Then hit up the Old Shillelagh they have a free shuttle which you can drink on the ride there. Nemos is also a good place with a free shuttle.

I survived the creeple mover. It was great getting to the Joe but post game was a bit packed to say the least. Not unbearable though. Donated $200 to the Greektown charity, so didnt come out horrible. Highlight of the night, besides the game was watching a housekeeping lady trying to use a push behind vacuum thing to clean a rug at greektown. The stupidity was amazing

Greektown's a winner. They just added another parking garage too. Not sure about the new parking garage, but the older one (a block behind Fishbones) doesn't allow people under 21 in the garage anymore. We were getting in the habit of getting our parking ticket approved from inside the casino and driving right back out for free.

Nobody's a fan of the people mover huh? Was just down there twice on MLK weekend for the Auto Show and the TDG/BB concert. Good police presence at the stops and had a cop on the train both nights at least one way.

Park for free on Jefferson behind the Main Post Office and walk to the Joe. No traffic jam getting out.

each game I have gone to this season we parked on the street in front of Chelis and took the free shuttle to and from the game. There are a lot of bars that do this, parking in the garage sucks! its also nice to go back and have a couple more beers after the game....

This was my feeling as well. At the platform post game at the joe there were 4 Armed tsa/dpd guys controlling the crowd. Also on the train to the game was an armed guard/dpd officer. I felt much better about things after seeing these guys as I was not to thrilled about not being armed.

We parked in the garage off of chrysler drive directly off the highway. Before the game our first stop was Rivard Plaza. Aparently the place is named after my great great (great?) grandfather? Kind of neat, didnt know it existed until a few months back. Nice plaza with a carousel and nice walk ways.

All in all I was sort of shocked at how decent things looked. Not great, but better than I expected.

I went to a game last year, and somebody got murdered in the same parking lot a few weeks after.
