Default Ebay=Crap....Amazon?

So I'm looking at other ideas for getting rid of stuff besides Craigslist and the Marketplace here. Sometimes there is just no interest from these and it just needs a broader audience. Like everyone else, I've given up on eBay. It's just crap now a days minus picking up a few items here and there.

My question to you is about seller accounts on Amazon. Have any of you tried them? Is it worth it? How do their fees compare? Any other places you would go with reasonable fees for listing items online? Thanks!

Amazon takes 12% off the top. I sell a LOT of stuff through amazon, and I'm actually one of their top ten amazon payment companies. Amazon is leaps and bounds above e-gay

I don't mind them. Just sometimes item's don't get a bite not even people trying to haggle. Need a wider audience.

I think egay takes close to 15%? CC does the item stay up til it sells or is there a time period?

So you can sell on Amazon like Ebay?

I did not know this.

What are the benefits?

I have used Ebay quite a bit in the past and it usually works fine for me but I am willing to try something new.

I thought it might have been returns not private sellers.

Looks like Amazon charges 15%, plus either a per sale fee of $0.99 or $39.99/ month.

I sell a ton on ebay. I'll admit that ebay has gone up and down in popluarity with me depending on which policies they enact. Getting rid of the sellers ability to leave negative feedback for a buyer is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.

Lately I've been selling alot of parts internationally (mostly to europe and asia), and much to my surprise, international bidders have always paid promptly and never given me any shit.

As for large parts, I enact strict policies that I put right into all my auctions. It usually goes like this:

"High bidder MUST pay in full within 7 days of auction close, Item is sold as is where is and I will not end auction early. High bidder wins auction. You must have at least 3 positive feedbacks and not less than a 97% feedback rating or I will cancel your bids. Item must be picked up within 30 days. After 30 days a $2 per day storage fee applies and storage is due on a monthly basis. Failure to pay storage on time results in loss of rights to item and I reserve right to resell item with no refunds being made."

So far this has worked pretty well, and I've even had the chance to sell the same car 3 times due to nobody picking it up or paying storage on time.

They all paid for the car, so I ended up making over $2,000 on a car not worth $500 in my opinion.

First guy bid the car up to $900 and paid right away through paypal. It's been 3 years and I still haven't ever heard from him.

Second time through the guy bid up to $400. He paid right away through paypal, and called me letting me know he was trying to make arrangements for the car to get shipped to Mexico. He called me about every two weeks for almost 3 months. He never paid any storage and kept telling me he would catch up with me when he picked the car up. I finally told him over the phone that he needed to pay up within 7 days. He said keep the car and the money!

3rd time was the charm, the guy bid up to $650 and came with cash the next morning.

I wish I could do this with everything I sell.
