Default S10/Sonoma 3rd door handle

So I've done some reading up about the 3rd door handle on S-10's and Sonoma's only to find just how great a job GM did on quality control. The '01 we've acquired had the same problem and now after I dropped $12 on a replacement one, I've found people selling these "Billet" style handles that work into the existing handle housing. I've had the pleasure of getting the 3rd door unstuck, and while I haven't broken the handle yet, nor have I really opened the door, I'd rather know what the better replacement is (if its the true solution) when I do snap the top of it.

What have you guys used as replacements? Google's turned up 3-5 after market manufacturers, but I'd like to know what's the best bang for the buck and longevity.

i have no idea about the best replacment but i have found that if you push on the third door while pulling the handle it works much smoother

yes, this definitely makes it easier and everyone on s10forums say to use the billet one, once mine breaks i will be getting it.

i replaced mine three times in a year my advice is pop off the thrid door panel and spray the crap out of the upper and lower locks and hinges with some white lithium grease. i did this and got my 4th handle from the junkyard and it been there for a year now. also make sure the rods that connect the door handle to the locks is adjusted correctly
