syn. fluid in E4OD

My 96 F-350 is used for plowing and I amhaving trouble with the trans heating up.I have a aux. cooler with fan inline after the factory in the radiator cooler and it will still get over 240 degrees. I think my custom exhaust is to close to the trans. so i put a shield i bought from summit there.I want to try syn. fluid in the trans to try and drop the temp. #1. Will the syn.fluid help? #2 What kind of fluid does anyone recommend? thanx

I use royal purple ATF in my 95

A shift kit might do miracles to keep the heat down. (less slippage for firmer shifts)

I think it already has a shift kit cause I never had an e40d shift this hard.At times it willalmost jar fillings loose!! So I assume you are happy with the royal purple then. Thanks for the response.
