Default My Hero

My son in law is my Hero..............Forever

About a year ago my 31 year old son in law was diagnosed with a form lung cancer. It was a very aggresive small cell type. They immediately started him on chemo and radiation treatments for the next 6 months. He was the most valiant fighter I had ever seen in dealing with the sickness from the treatments. Rarely a complaint out of him. He would just leave the room and go lay down if he wasn't feeling well.

After the lung treatments were completed he was given a precautionary treatment to his brain to make sure cancer wasn't hiding out in there. He was then given a clean bill of health. Yay

He returned for full body PET scan three months later and again was given a clean bill of health.

This past tuesday he went in for his 6 month PET scan and now has cancer in his lymph nodes and liver. The doctors are giving him 9-12 months left.

His kids, our Grandbabies, are Austin 6yo and Kendall 3yo, they are the greatest gift we have ever had. It seems so unfair that they had to watch their dad fight lung cancer and now they are going to have to be told at some point dad is leaving forever. Matt has been a GREAT father and husband to our daughter.

Last night was not a good night when they had us come over and told us the news.

If your a believer please say a prayer for Matt, Kristen and the kids.

We are going to make sure that he can take them on a nice vacation in the next couple of months to make memories for the kids.

I can't believe I am having to write a note about something like this. You always think it will happen to other people, not you.

Give your loved ones a hug and tell them you love them while you can.

Jeff

No Matt went to Comstock Park HS. If you went to the newer GHHS on Ferris St. then I have probably seen you before as I am the Facility Manager here.

i am very sorry to hear this. i lost my best friend to pancreatic, it was horrible as he left behind his 4, 8, and 10 yr old...there are not words to describe it. spend as much time with him and your grandkids as possible as the next year or so will be priceless and will go by in a blink.
i will keep Matt and his family (your family) in my prayers
