Have you tried www.catused.com? Cat actually has a whole online certified used parts dealer system and can ship parts directly through Michigan Cat. Here's what I came up with under a quick search for 3116 parts: http://catused.cat.com/en/Parts/Resu...&MajorClassID=

AIS in Lansing, call 517-321-8000 and ask for Mike in used parts...he can find pretty much anything, and have it shipped to you, or to the AIS branch nearest you...

honestly, the man is kind of an ass, but good at his job, which is locating good used parts from anywhere

Some differences as significant and some not so much, if you were lucky enough to get the same vintage, they might have the same head might not, compression ratios tend to vary by a point or two, turbos are usually different, injectors are sometimes the same.

Off road engines are not a pleasent thing in an on road application. Injection pumps, Injection timing, governers, camshaft, pistons, turbos, horsepower ratings, emissions, head, etc. are most likely different. Off road engines are set up to run a constant RPM with a given load.

What transmission does the truck have? If it has a road ranger I would look for something else to repower the truck with. 3116 CATs are not my favorite engine by far.

actually, a large percentage are not...excavators and dozers are (though dozers generally also have a decel pedal, so even they vary the RPMs on a regular basis), but what about haul trucks, backhoes, rough terrain fork lifts, sweepers, water trucks, rollers, etc.? and the accessories, like the injection pump and turbo, will probably swap right over from the original engine, if the replacement is the same engine.

I have actually put at least one off-road engine into a street truck, with no noticeable downfalls (other then making it fit)...granted that was switching from a Chevy 6.5 to a Komatsu SAA6D102E-1 (you would know that as a Cummins 6BT)...
