Default where would you vacation and why

my wife and I have planned to vacation togather in 2010 (probably mid april)... after 7 years in undergrad/grad school each, we want to go somewhere all-inclusive where we don't have to think or do anything for a week...

went to puerto vallarta on our honeymoon...

any suggestions from experience... i am thinking not DR/HAITI right now for obvious reasons (however, i don't know if DR was affected badly by quake or not, seems like it's pretty close)

My wife and I are going to try to go to Paris, Madrid and London this spring after tax season is done (she's a CPA and a bit busy right now). Although I've spent quite a bit of time in Europe, I've never been to any of those cities (she spent about three months in Paris a few years ago) and I want to go to check out the museums and architecture.

I like fun in the sun and gorgeous beaches, but I'm just as happy wandering down some ancient street and looking at 700-year-old cathedrals.

Details, that sounds awesome. Do you remember the name of the place you hired?

Jamaica was sweet, we stayed in Negril. All inclusive relaxing vacation. You can turn your brain off and lay in the sun for a week no problem. Stick a flag in the sand, and have someone bring you a drink.

We like to go on two types of vacations - action packed where you can do and see as much as possible, then the other extreme where you lay around and do nothing. Jamaica was perfect for this. We stayed at Couple Negril.

We really enjoyed Aruba. It's not plush like Hawaii but it's guaranteed weather and it doesn't take 600hrs on an airplane to get there.

Been all over Mexico and Cabo tops my list there, but it's hard to beat
Hawaii. Oahu for the night life and Maui just to escape and relax.

Mexico, Riveria Maya, Mayan palace. All in clusive leave in 10 days for 9! Wooot!.

But price was right, we got our (gf&me) flights for $300 round trip each. The resort, I dont remember the cost because her parents got us a good deal through their "RCI" group thing so I dont remember the price.

I went to PV also 2 years ago with her family and had a blast, beautiful weather and beaches. And tons of stuff to do!

Riviera Maya is nice. Good diving and snorkeling. Must see the Mayan Ruins.
Alot of Europeans visit that area so watch for the topless hunnies
Hope your all-inclusive trip is much better than my last few. The Food seems to suck in that area. All but the fresh fruit.

I used to always think that all-inclusive was for suckers but when we went on our honeymoon in 2008 (St. Lucia), the wife wanted all inclusive and since her dad was paying, that's what we got. I tried to figure out what we would have spent on cabs to and from the airports and around the island, and all the food, and all the drinks, and what the included activities would have cost us and in the end I decided that it was actually a pretty good deal.

I would think that the bargain of the all-inclusiveness would be lessened if you are the type of couple (or person) who wants to go all over the place and eat at 1,000 different restaurants and go to a different night club each night, but if you are looking to just sit back and relax, it's hard to beat the price. Of course, if you are paying the all inclusive price and getting watered-down drinks and lousy food, then it's not a bargain...

OK, back on topic.
