What do you use to get your map direction online?

I have been using Google Maps for years, but within the last month it has screwed me 3 times. One time it wanted me to drive through a golf course, another time it wanted me to drive through a non existing road (or through a lake), and yesterday it just took me to the road I was heading to, but at a completely different spot than I wanted to be at.

I previously used Mapquest and never had such problems. I like Google Maps because it lets you modify your route.

So what do you use that's reliable?

Oh, and I'm not buying a Tom Tom, since I can't convince my wife that she needs one, and I'm not buying one for myself.

I use google maps, but I also try to use a little common sense before I leave.

My house is NOT mapquestable from the south, we know it so we always warn people on the first trip to the house. Otherwise the end up very, very close to the house, but unable to get there with out getting out and walking.

I use Google maps as well, but I don't ask for their directions. I just look up my own route and write it down.

Mapquest is dead accurate IMO, and you can change the route by simply clicking on the line and dragging it. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

Before I got M$ Streets and Trips I used www.bing.com/maps. I liked it better than Google and Mapquest. I got less errors with Bing than the rest. All of them will occasionally give you errors.

Just be thankful you aren't pimping a grossed out 18 wheeler when it "goofs" and tries to route you through a seasonal road most jeeps would barley fit.

For $50 S/T with GPS can't be beat if you already have a laptop. When it occasionally routes you wrong, or you miss your road/exit, you just keep going and it will auto reroute you QUICKLY back on track.

GPS, I know you said you don't want one, but I don't want to try to read a map and drive at the same time.

Google Maps keeps screwing me over too...It'll have wrong turns and stuff lists in the directions and then you can't find the street since it's a mile the other direction. I might have to go back to mapquest or finally buy a Garmin.

i'm a walking mapquest. that was my nickname all through high school and tech school. once i look at a map i don't need it again to find my way someplace. and once i drive somewhere i could drive there again without looking at a map. sadly i still remember how to get to customers houses that i went to over the summer. i think they call it a pictorial memory or something like that. and it seems in todays day and age people don't even know how to read a regular paper street map. they have stupid tom tom's and GPS units to tell them where to drive.

I used to use mapquest and it would get me to the general area. Then I switched to Google maps with similar results. Now if I can I will zoom in as far as I can to get a better idea of where to be. Street view has helped a couple times.
