Default Anybody Watch Generation Kill?

I was thinking about checking out the Generation Kill DVDs. I know it was an HBO production and they tend to be on the liberal side. They worth watching?

It was pretty good, they portrayed the grunts in a good light. The officers were all glory hogging idiots that couldn't find their ass with both hands tho. Still it wasn't too noticeable.

I'm a raging conservative and I thought it was one of the best war movies ever. Any war flick that portrays things realistically is going to come off as being anti-war in a way since war is such an ugly thing.

The officer bashing was a bit over the top, but it does add a certain comedic effect.

I thought it was a great series.

btw, the movie The Hurt Locker just came out on video if you are into war stuff. It's about bomb diffusers in Iraq. I thought that was a good one too.

I've seen that flick. Great movie. That guy is quite an adrenalin junkie. I think I am picking that one up.

I never missed an episode. It was definitely left leaning, with army people "going crazy" because they were "forced" to be in a war, and then they would kill civilians in every episode, but the cinematography and story line were wonderful.

Guy at work watched them and thought it was really good. He didn't think it was anti-war or anything, and he's not a lefty at all.

It's on my Netflix queue, really looking forward to watching them.

Some of the "actors" in the series portrayed themselves. Yes, the actual soldiers were involved in the production as advisors and actors.

I found it to not be "left leaning". I found it to be a fair portrayal of war and the people who serve, based on personal conversations with those who have gone to war.

Excellent series!
My buddy was a marine, and actually knew a couple of these men potrayed in the movie. Rudy Reyes is one of them. They also used the soilders real names in the series. I think HBO did an excllent job. This is one of my favorites, only second to Band of Brothers.
