I like the 2010 ones better. You should make some cooler ones too like out of Purple Heart wood or Zebra wood. Those are badass.

2010 Turned out very much the way I envisioned when I recommended the change. I like it, however I also like something different every year.

Haha. How much money did it take to make those two? What thickness and approximate dimensions are they? eBay has it.

What would it take to do out of metal and have someone powder coat multi colored?

Also I would like to see a different wood used other than Poplar. Poplar is too soft. I would like to see these things last a long time for stories down the road so a hard wood would be better.

Not so fast there. I have a clock that I made 15 years ago from poplar haning in my sun room. Although it has yellowed some, it still looks perfect. Poplar is a very common wood worker's wood. Yes it is soft but it's meant as a wall plaque or mantle piece, not a dart board.

Any awards that I machine will be made from wood. I do limited amounts of aluminum on my machine but it's not condusive to coolant. Therefore, cutting aluminum at high speeds doesn't work so well. I'm wide open to suggestions on wood, colors, etc.

The problem with something with Zebra wood is the diversity of the grain when trying to have the text show clearly. One of the So-Thanks awards had some dra matic streaking in the grain and I don't think it looked nearly as good. (I don't know who got it, either Kelly or Jim)

I really like the contrast in the 2010 awards and agree that there is a lot of fun that could be had with woods vs. stains.
