Default Three oxford high school students were killed this morning

on joslyn. That has to be a horrible feeling for the mom that survived.

Anyway, I can't believe the comments on this article, and how they're blaming the ROAD COMMISSION for not having it clean. This happened two miles away from my office and I have to say it was snowing extremely hard at 7:00am. We have around 4" here.

Ok, I travel that road a lot, and it is really really snowing hard at 7 this morning. It gives no indication that there was another car involved in the accident, so how do you crash that bad (the speed limit is 40) on super snowy roads that would kill three people?

I thought that I read in there that there was two drivers and they were investigating.

It was one of the posters but here it was, "
My thoughts are with the 2 drivers invloved and their families. I will say that the intersections (in particular) have been terrible this season. M24 south at Drahner is a sheet of ice after it snows."

That is sad. The roads were really bad this morning, but I don't think it's fair to blame the road commission. Like CC said, it was coming down hard right in the middle of rush hour.

Quote from wife of a witness.

"read the facts, this woman was NOT hit by an out-of-control car, HERS was the out-of-control car on Joslyn and slid into the path of a pick up truck."

I was thinking the same thing... even with another car, an impact at 100mph (combined) on slippery roads shouldn't end in death. The only thing I can think is that they werent buckled up, were going too fast and got into bad situation. Just speculation on my part though so I'll just keep reading...

A co-worker was talking about the drive in this morning on joslyn, he had to take baldwin down... now he knows why.

Hell, I almost got his this morning by someone pulling out of a gas station, he didnt even look, just drove right into the road like no cars were coming, if I hadn't swerved out of the way it would have been bad.

I believe it was a little further south, almost right next to the Oakland County Sheriff/Orion TWP offices. I used to live off Clarkston right over there, those are some of the best plowed roads.

She lost control, went sideways, right infront of an oncoming truck, who couldn't do anything about it, and hit them broadside. I feel bad for him, to have to live with that, something he couldn't control.

I believe he was in a modern GM truck, their car was a late model camry.

M24 and drahner (2 miles from my house) has been bad a few times this year, but any intersection like that where everyone stops, the heat melts the snow, then the cars move and the wind blows and re-freezes it. But all of the intersections are like that, just how it is...

Some lady smashed into the back of our van today, grrr.

The news said that the girl in the frt seat dies instantly and the 2 others died at the hospital.

It doesn't take much of a car accident, to cause severe head injuries or a broken neck.

Hell my nephew died hen he was in a car accident and if you were to look at him there wasn't a scratch on him, his brain was shaken so hard it bounced off his skull, and that is was caused his death.

This is a very sad story, and don't forget the driver of the truck, I am sure he wont be the same ever.

I drive that area almost daily and did this morning at 6:45 AM. the roads were bad and it was snowing heavily....................but it's not the road commissions fault, or the city, or the government. It's sad but you cannot sue for everything bad that happens to you.

As more details come out, it appears the mother, driving the kids to school lost control and slid into the path of a full sized GMC pick-up. The pick up driver was released from the hospital and was determined to not have been at fault in any way.

There is also more insight in the road commisions activities and the weather at the time.

As tragic as it is to hear of 3 teens killed in this way, it sounds like the only one to blame here is the mother driving the car. This is Michigan, we get snow. Slow down. Use extra caution.

Makes you wonder how people survive in the country where they do not plow and salt at every snowflake.

" How many people are going to die before they decide to take care of our roads? I hope this family sues the county for not doing their job. These girls were so young ! "

They should also sue the manufacturer of the fan for not making it safe enough.
Then sue the gas station that sold them the gas that let them drive down that road.
Then sue the school for not canceling school if the road were that bad.

Then sue the legislature for thinking it'd be a good idea to make schools of choice and have people from Pontiac driving to Oxford High every morning...
