Just get a USB wireless card and it will be fixed.

I don't know about the Sony's but some Dell laptops have a physical switch for wireless. It's usually not too easy to see, a lot of users don't even know it's there until it gets switched off...

Look for a slide switch somewhere?

Go to Sony's Website and try to find your model's list of drivers. Download the driver for the internal wireless card and install it.

Alternatively, you can go to start, right click on my computer, and click on properties. Go to the Hardware Tab, and click on Device Manager. Scroll down to Network Adapters and see if there is a wireless adapter in that list. If it is there, right click on it, and click "Update Driver". If it's not there, try the first option.

If you need any other help, PM me, I'll see what I can do for ya.

You can usually use Windows wireless controller or the wireless card manufacturers program. I have switched back and forth between them on my wifes laptop when one decides to be a bitch. But you can right click and do a repair, does it detect your router but just refuse to connect to it?

I had a similar problem and it turned out the modem took a crap. It too was a 2wire modem. Currently have a netgear and is working great.

It doesn't even detect available wireless networks?

If the device is in the device manager, but not in the connections box, it sounds like a software issue. You may have to uninstall the driver, and re-install the driver. Sometimes you can un-install the driver, then reboot, and let windows find it, and do it that way. Give it a shot.
