Unhappy semi-wrenchie: need help this sunday, 7/23!!!

I hope I don't get flamed for this, but I need an extra hand to work on my wife's 00' beetle. It wouldn't start this morning, and I'm 85% sure its timing belt failure. I'm going to run the codes and trial and error through everything I can think of. I need help because unlike every other car on earth, the new beetle's timing belts can only be replaced if the engine is off one of its mounts.

And 2-8 heads is better than just my one. Sometimes.

Any help is appreciated.

Sterling heights anyone???

Well, its not the timing belt. Its some other whirring noise... maybe the coil pack. So now that its not the timing belt, I don't think I'll need help on Sunday. Well, I hope not. I'm still surfin forums to figure this out...

Whirring noise when you try to start it? So I'm assuming it's not cranking, you just turn the key and here the whirring noise. If that's the case, it's the starter solenoid. You may be able to get just the solenoid, but it's easier just to get the whole starter and replace it.

Whoops, need to clarify that whirring noise... that noise is after it cranks. cranks and cranks, but wont turn over. then i'd quicky stuff my head back in the engine compartment and hear that lil whirring noise. like a housefly type noise.
