I hear people say this and part of me agrees. The other part of me though thinks that I will only end up with about 75 bucks more a pay check, which would likely just get spent on some shit like most of my money and I won't have anything more in the end. At least with getting a check at the end of the year, I have some extra "play" money.

Also, I already have money coming out of my check for retirement and such. Should I invest it? You bet. But would I?

Exactly. I put into my retirement on what I take home now, could I add the say 50 bucks for round numbers, sure, am I? not necessarily because I am already putting in. Any more money in my check is in theroy going other places than into savings.

Also, I would rather GIVE the government a small loan and then collect, than to possibly learn that I have been taking a loan all year, oh and suprise, I owe them before April 15. Am I using every cent I could be and funding my savings? not up front but I play the safe route. Besides my refunds usually go to savings/bills, save for last year when I put it into the jeep.

Our refund this year will be going to a small remodel of the den in the next couple of months.

Knock down a wall, tear out the carpet, wood floor, new paint. Nothing too extensive.

I am thinking of donating it to the Obama and peolsi Campaign fund.

Ok if i was going to that i would just go buy as much ice as i could get and watch it melt on a hot and sunny day,in the middle of I-75 sitting in a lawn chair

That's a LUXURY tax you are paying! It is worth it.

I'm hoping to spend some of mine on a new set of Schoenfeld upright stepped headers.....If the wife runs out of places to spend it.

Winch bumper for the XJ! Only had a brand new winch sitting in the box for a little over a year now. Nothing like putting the cart before the horse huh?

I have been claiming 9 dependents all year and since I don't have any, I will most likely owe the feds a little this year. I always have to pay state an extra few hundred.

Pretty much my exact thought/reasoning. What little bit per week I would be able to get extra I'd just piss away on something stupid, this way, I can make a "big" purchase without trying to save anything on my own. All the other financial planning is doing ok so far so I dont see a need to change it just yet.

I should get a nice chunk this year. Last year I got just under 5k. I claim 0 all year have 1 child. I bought a house and my job does not do per diem. I'm home 3 to 4 days a month. I think it's at $55 per night, so they own me some there too. I'm paying the rest of my debt which is about 5k. Windows for the house, torches and welder for me.
