Default Jeep 4.0 Supercharger Kit - Complete - SOLD - $800

Sold for $800

$800 - OBO

I bought this kit from another GL member back in September with hopes of installing it right away. One thing led to another and it's still sitting on my workbench. Now the motor has a bad head and I'm debating between a new 4.0 head and this supercharger, or a Chevy 5.3.

The kit includes the supercharger (Eaton from a Ford Supercoupe), all bracketry necessary for the 4.0, the belt, the AC pump (I was going to use it for OBA), the piggy back computer, the 63MM throttle body, the air intake system which draws from just under the windshield (not under the hood), and a bunch of small misc stuff to make a complete kit (oh yeah, detailed instructions too).

If this sells or draws much interest in the near future, I'll go 5.3. If not...maybe I'll go SC.

Thanks

What is needed for additional fuel? Upgraded pump? Retune of computer?

Would this be a complete bolt on?

What kind of power increase can be expected?

Any links to the install?

Premium fuel is required due to the added compression. Stock fuel pump/system is adequate. This comes with a laptop programmable computer. It requires 4 wires to be spliced into the stock wiring harness. This is a complete kit including the air intake components to draw air directly from outside of the engine bay with minimal restrictions.

Claims of HP gains range from 60 to 90 with similar kits. I would err on the low side by expecting 60 to 70. Pics and a video of the assembly can be found on the link that I bought this through - http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthr...t=supercharger. This is with 7lbs of boost. The blower is capable of more by changing the pulley but I wouldn't go too much higher without getting into engine internals.

The blower is an Eaton from a Ford Supercoupe (M90 I think).

As far as the engine/computer stuff is concerned, this should work with an XJ. I don't know if it will fit under your hood though. Since you're in Zeeland, you're welcome to stop over to get a better idea. I'm just down James St between 152nd and 160th. We could set the blower in place just to see if the hood closes properly.

Let me know.

I really hope I don't have this at tax time, but feel free to ask whenever that check comes in.

Sweet, stop over whenever. I'm out there most of the weekend trying to get the motor set in so that I can get it wired next week.

could you by chance get a measurement of how tall the supercharger is? as in how high off the top of the intake manifold it comes. i wanna see how much of a hump i would have to put in the hood of my cherokee if i got it

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see the last post until just now. The blower and mounting plates are roughly 10.5" tall. This is the dimension to the top of the sensor that mounts to the throttle body since that is the tallest point when installed. The throttle body is mounted sideways.

This dimension is from the surface that the stock throttle body sits on to the top of the supercharger assembly (TB sensor).

Hope this helps. For what it's worth, a guy called with questions about this today and said that he saw a very similar kit being installed on an XJ with no hood modifications. There may be some pulley modifications required, but I happen to have all of the brackets required for that too since I am not using my 4.0 again. Just a thought.
