Angry New International Flight Rules: No electronics in cabin

Glad I haven't flown out of country in awhile. If they told me to check my laptop or camera, I'd miss my flight so I can find a post office and ship them home.

Next Time You Fly, Prepare To Be Patted Down And Computerless

Are we not allowed to have electronics with us in the cabin when we fly now? Is it true that we can't get up in the last hour of a flight, and everyone gets patted down now? Most importantly, what about the electronics?
The enforcement of the new security measures will be "unpredictable," but things have definitely become stricter.
Electronic devices: cannot be brought into the cabin of the plane on international flights to the United States.
Patdowns: Required, for now.
Items on laps: No blankets, bags, suitcases, purses, etc on your lap during the last hour of flight. Your hands must be visible at all times.
No potty breaks: Passengers cannot get out of their seats for the last hour of a flight.

If you've experienced these new rules, let us know. From a consumer point of view, we're particularly concerned about the electronics ban and potential for theft from checked baggage.

I get that they say it's for everybody's safety, but things are starting to get ridiculously out of control. They could create some jobs and save everybody time by just mounting M249s behind the cockpit in every plane and hiring people to man them.

Mandatory body cavity searches won't be too far behind. "Ugh, dammit Tim. I wish that dude would stop leaving and re-entering the terminal. I think he's enjoying the body cavity searches..."

It says "to" the united states, you cannot have electronics.
So, im assuming if you got this off of a government site that you can have them FROM the united states, but not on your return trip...

Shit, I'll be flying TO US via Toronto then, this is ridiculous. Can't even take a leak an hour before landing, that's bs.

Yeah but I wouldn't trust them to have it checked for the return trip. I always keep anything expensive or "must haves" in my carry on. If it has to be below for one way, it might as well be down there for both.

I dont get the "one hour before landing" thing. So if there is a terrorist on board he cant blow the shit up an hour and 5 minutes before landing? Things are getting out of hand, wait until someone pisses themselves from the no potty for an hour rule.

Well, nfortunately earlier in the month TSA published a "redacted" PDF of the TSA airport-security-screening manual and SOP on the Internet, and that sensitive document has now been un-redacted and widely circulated...probably how the fukc go the crap on board in the first place....so much for homeland security

I can see being passed out during the last hour of flight. Will be well worth it if it is a hawt chick having to pull her panties down to take a leak

p.s. I am not into the urine fetish thing. Panty dropping thing yes, but not the urine thing.

Just full body image everyone getting onto the plane, problem solved.

Not like it's difficult... I got red flagged at DTW to DFW...takes an extra few seconds.

That or ban carry ons completely.

Either way, people won't be happy though.

F*ck yeah, I'd be all about that. I don't like flying but can't sleep on planes. I would get drunk as a skunk but then I have to pee all the time... bad news with a closed bathroom for the last hour.

Kinda hard to believe though that they're going this far with it. Although, you can use a cell phone to trigger a blast. *shudder*

I'm waiting to see more info on this.

Still nothing on the TSA website in a statement from yesterday referencing the Christmas attempt.

http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/dec25_guidance.shtm

Quote:
TSA Guidance for Passengers on Heightened Security Measures in Place Following Dec. 25 Incident
News & Happenings

December 27, 2009

On Dec. 25, 2009, an individual on board Northwest Airlines Flight 253 set off a device and was subdued by passengers and crew. TSA wishes to acknowledge the heroic efforts of those individuals.

As a result of this incident, TSA has worked with airline and law enforcement authorities, as well as federal, state, local, and international partners to put additional security measures in place to ensure aviation security remains strong. Passengers traveling domestically and internationally to U.S. destinations may notice additional screening measures.

The American people should continue their planned holiday travel. TSA encourages passengers to remain observant and aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behavior or activity to law enforcement officials.

Click here to read a statement about the incident from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: What additional security measures is TSA taking domestically?
A: TSA has a layered approach to security that allows us to surge resources as needed on a daily basis. We have the ability to quickly implement additional screening measures including explosive detection canine teams, law enforcement officers, gate screening, behavior detection and other measures both seen and unseen. Passengers should not expect to see the same thing at every airport.

Q: What additional security measures are being taken for international flights to U.S. destinations?
A: TSA issued a directive for additional security measures to be implemented for last point of departure international flights to the United States. Passengers flying into the United States from abroad can expect to see additional security measures at international airports such as increased gate screening including pat-downs and bag searches. During flight, passengers will be asked to follow flight crew instructions, such as stowing personal items, turning off electronic equipment and remaining seated during certain portions of the flight.

Q: Do passengers need to do anything differently to prepare for checkpoint security procedures? Has anything changed in terms of what passengers can bring in their carry-on or checked bags?A: At this time, security checkpoint requirements for passengers departing U.S. airports remain the same. Passengers do not need to do anything differently, but they may notice additional security measures at the airport.

Q: Should passengers plan to arrive at airports earlier than normal?
A: Passengers traveling within the United States should give themselves extra time to check in and proceed through the security checkpoint before their flight, especially during the busy holiday travel season. TSA advises that passengers traveling on international flights to U.S. destinations allow extra time for security and arrive an additional hour earlier.

Q. How long will these measures remain in place?
A: TSA will continuously review these measures to ensure the highest levels of security.

Would it be any easier to fly out of and into Windsor's international airport? Seems like it would be an easy way to bypass the U.S. and their increasingly dumb regulations.

I don't think we need to do that, but I'm sure racial profiling would be much more cost effective then patting down white women over 40

My point is: fuck being politically correct, target the "under represented minority groups" that are blowing shit up. a few will still get through, but we are wasting resources by not offending those groups. What has that bought us? World respect? Social justice? Fair play?
Fuck that, let offend

Aw crap.

If the no electronics on board rule is true, I'm fawked.

I need my laptop for setting up and programming our feed equipment at the customer's location, we sell quite a bit to Canada and Mexico. Last time I checked electronics with the baggage our laser level got broke.

How about this, we just make an official announcement:

"Hello, Muslims and people of middle eastern descent. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but since we are currently at war with Muslim extremists who unfortunately look like you we will be scrutinizing your moves carefully during travel.
Nothing personal, hope you understand. Have a nice day"

Not sure when this rule takes effect, however, I returned to the U.S. from two weeks overseas on Dec. 12th and had zero trouble with bringing back my laptop and digital camera.

We can't.

If we did that, then Muslim extremists would kidnap Americans, film their beheadings; perhaps even burn them alive, then drag them through city streets behind cars, then leave what's left of the bodies hanging for all to see.

It will happen no matter what.

Once we realize we're fighting a war that we didn't decide to enter, and work towards ending it this will go on forever.

I can't believe how retarded we're starting to get with flying.
