Where would you rather have her in a crash?

You might want to check with the Secretary of State or possibly the police instead of asking all the experts here. After all, it's just the life of your child we're talking about.

Front seat, but I'd find another ride to cart your kid in.

When I first got my daughter I would buckle her in the middle of the rear seat of my XJ using the 3 rear seat belts. lol

How old is your kid?

Why not just hold off on getting an s10? Or get a 4 door version.

Your fine.
Fuck, put your kid wherever you want.
Sometimes my son rides on the center counsel.
It's cool, he has a bungee cord.

Have you looked into getting a roll bar? That is what I would do, and just mount the car seat in the bed under it. If its winter, just bundle up the kid really well

How about hang the car seat from the roll bar like a swing set?
Then the kid is safe, and having the time of it's life as well.

As long as the kid is in the proper size car seat for his/her age and size, I don't see a problem with this.

When I was sporing an extended cab sonoma I didn't even try to jam my kid or his carseat into the back seat, He rode in the front seat with me.

If you can fit the car seat into the back and buckle the kid in I don't see that as a problem, but I'd think an extended cab S-10 would be rather tight for a kid and get annoying to buckle them into after a while.

I don't know much about the vehicle in questions crash rating. but as far as jump seats go they don't leave a lot of room for much. as for a 4 door pick up I would think that would be the safer way to go. I ain't saying its always the best to be forward thinking, but if you value your kids I would look at vehicle ratings first before you buy something and find out it wasn't safe enough even for you.

If you really want the s10 that bad, just put the kid up for adoption and forget about it. Kids come and go, but a great deal on an s10 is once in a lifetime. You can always make more kids, but Chevrolet will never make another s10.
