Default Christmas/CHristmas eve traditions

What are your Christmas/CHristmas eve traditions?

We do a few little things, First for the last 4 years we watch Norad Santa Tracker. Works great cause when the kids see Santa hit the east coast there in bed asleep and fast. Last year a new fetcher was added that let you add a little mod to "Google Earth" and see video's also.

We also put out "Reindeer food" on Christmas eve.

And a few years ago I start taken a old pair of work boots and getting "ash" from the fireplace/wood stove and making tracks around and near the tree and cookie's.

So what do you do?

nothing like that (no kids) but there is one Christmas tradition that is pretty important to me. When I was a kid, my mom did all of the Christmas shopping, and of course, also put my dads name on the gifts, as the giver. My dad started doing his own thing, which was to get a box of chocolate covered cherries for each of the boys, and a flower for each of the girls, and a dozen for my mom.
My dad died when I was 18, and that tradition stopped for a few years. I always thought my oldest brother should continue it, but he doesnt want to, so I do it every year.
Now that my mom is also gone, I get her flowers later in the spring and put them on thier grave.

grown daughters come over. dinner always roast beef and yorkshire pudding. fireplace. christmas music. watch a christmas story for the upteenth time, maybe an old chevy chase 'griswald' movie. hopefully attend a christmas service. get sleepy and doze off on the sofa.

when they were young and at home we'd take two dutch wooden shoes, fill them with candy and place they in front of their bedroom doors before we went to sleep. cookies and milk by the fireplace for santa. also loaded up their christmas stockings with magazines, candy, stickers, beauty products, yada. now they'll get dog treats for their pooches, small games you can fit into an overnite bag for their parties, etc.

When I was a kid, the tradition was to watch TV specials on tv, open one gift on Christmas Eve, and slowly digest a dinner made of snack foods like cheese and crackers, cocoa, donuts, things like that. In bed by 9 but of course you can't sleep...

Christmas morning we would wake up and wait for our dad to get up, and pretend to be asleep as he woke us up. Then we would unwrap all the remaining gifts, pack up the family and go to Detroit to my uncles house for more family, good food, and more gifts.

Now, because I work almost every Christmas day, and dont get out till 1pm, we let the kids unwrap one gift on the Eve, and then give them a Benadryl and 2 shots of vodka so they sleep till I get out of work the next day. After rousing them around 1:30pm, dipping there near-lifeless bodies into shocking-cold water to wake them, we unwrap more gifts with them as we snap our fingers by their ears so they stay awake.

Good times.

The only tradition that I carry on is making a package of Pillsbury Orange Sweet Rolls on Christmas morning. My wife hates them, but I could probably eat the entire package by myself. my dad randomly started making them one Christmas morning about 15 years ago and when I got my own place, I decided to keep it going (and yes, I know you can find them all year long, but I only want them on Thanksgiving and Christmas).

I remember as a kid I used to go with my dad out someplace and help him chop down a tree at one of those places, I don't know if they have any of those places left where you get in, find your tree, chop it down and they wire it up for you.
We also would go to the Crooked Creek dairy in Romeo for some egg nog, chocolate milk... that stuff was so good.

My traditions are not the same anymore as I have my son every other christmas and every other christmas eve, so it is one day or the other every year....I prefer having him christmas morning, it's more fun.

My christmas traditions now focus more around getting the tree with my son, complete with hay ride, hot chocolate, etc. and visiting santa for pictures.

I wish you would start and finish the Christmas tradition of you sticking the barrel of gun in your mouth and pulling the fucking trigger.
