I like caberfae better than crystal. It's a little low key with less idiots.

I think Nubs will offer a good compromise for the girls and the boys.

Your thoughts are not so accurate.

I tend to like Caberfae for the terrain but my wife likes Crystal for the facilities and the kids program. From TC I would do one of those but I still like the Highlands best in the LP.

Mt. Holiday is the closest...but I would recommend either Boyne Mt. or Nubs Nob. Boyne Mt. is about a hour and a half away from TC. It's also about a half hour drive closer than Nubs Nob too btw, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Seriously thinking Schuss mountain at this point. I have skied there once, and I think I liked it, it's half the distance drive of nubs, and a good $15 a ticket cheaper than Boyne.

Caberfae (although fun) is a day trip from Kalamazoo, not really a weekend destination IMHO.

searchmont or bohemia, end of discussion.

Schuss really isn't bad, but not nearly as good as nubs in my opinion, nubs is worth the extra hour.

Bohemia is great, but (last I knew) entirely dependent on natural snow. I love how they didn't bulldoze the runs and left a ton of terrain variation. If you're up there it's definitely worth a look. You can hit up Ripley in Houghton and the Porkies while you're at it.

of course bohemia doesnt have any nancy runs for his wife and mother.

My friend is married to one of the guys who runs/owns bohemia...they've gotten a fair amount of snow up there already. I may make a run up there the day after christmas.

I used to guest patrol at Bohemia/Ripley over the Christmas break. This time of the year I have always found it to be hit and miss. Immortal and I got F'ed in January there a couple years ago. They got a few inches of rain the day or two before we went up.

I think we spent the most time drinking in bars.

Awesome place to go when there is snow though.

Bohemia is the shit, I got lost in the woods there. Conditions were spring slush and it was still one of the best times I have had snowboarding in MI. I would lose my mind to be up there when they get dumped on. I just wish it wasn't a 10 hour drive from here.

I wish, I really LOVE skiing; but I chose my expensive ass hobby already.

I'm not a baller like you that can afford to jet set every other weekend

Now it's either new brakes and no college for my kids or I just crash and die. decisions decisions.

You don't need brakes.

I think Nubs is the best in the LP followed by Boyne Mtn. Highlands is more laid back family. Next on the list is Caberfaie. Crystal is too glitzy with snobs all over the place.
