I know when CSK took Murray's over it took a turn for the worse, but I got fired before O'Reilly took over.

But, the best one I have been to is A&A at the end of KillerB's old street. I think they are AutoValue now though, haven't been in since the change.

I've had good luck at the AZ by me, maybe it helps that they know me by first name and they always like to check out my car and truck.

I wont deal with the local Auto Zone, the employees there are usually rude, and I have been told by a couple there that I was wrong...they changed their mind after I explained the difference between a parts counter guy and an ASE master tech (even if my certs have all expired)...even had one guy there trying to tell me that a bubble flare and a double flare are the same thing, while I was looking for a bubble flare kit on a Sunday (they didnt have it in thier tool loaner program either, so I went to Carquest and bought the kit)

I deal with Napa, Advance, and Carquest (usually in that order) but I dont buy batteries from any of them, only because I get a better price buying them through work.

I once rented a fan-clutch removal kit from Autozone. It didn't look right, but I verified and re-verified that it was the correct kit. They swore by it, and told me how it would work for the vehicle (97 GMC Jimmy). Eventually, after being horribly frustrated for 2 days, I took it to Car Quest, who informed me it was for late-model Fords trucks only. The Autozone perps wouldn't refund my $$$ even after explaining to the guy who swore he used it on Chevy vehicles the entire time he was a master tech for a car dealership.

asshats.

I have bought two parts from autozone in twelve years. I will not install autozone parts even if they are customer supplied. I buy everything from advance auto or performance. Of course it help i sleep with the commercial parts pro for the last 8 years. And shes the mother of my 4 yr old and one on the way.
but honestly auto zone sells nothing but junk. At one point our local az lost there delivery vehicles and commercial program because no shops in town would buy from them.

F that place.

I followed through on my promise to launch the parts at an auto zone employees face when he F'd up my stuff for the 3rd time. Not my proudest moment, but GOOD GOD I hate that place. I will never, ever, ever spend another dollar there again.

I most certainly can. Who do you think is responsible for setting the standards for hiring and firing employees?

I am curious of the people that have had problems with the Duralast batteries what brand they chose to replace it with. If you chose Diehard, Everstart, Alliance, Autocraft, or Interstate, to name a few, you just bought a battery built by the same manufacturer as Duralast - Johnson Controls. And they also make Optimas.

And I am curious what company doesn't prorate their batteries after a timeframe.

As fas as the core charge, that store is incorrect on their policy. A core should not have been charged.

I now have a commercial account at autozone, and the pricing is usually 10%-60% lower than the regular customers. I really can't complain about that. Sure, I've had some cocky employees and wrong parts, but I've learned to deal with them. My biggest complaint with them (or most parts stores) is if they sell you a faulty part which takes out previously good parts, they only cover their part.

For example: I bought new front axle U-joints for my Cherokee last year. About a week after installing them one came apart and took out the shafts. Closer inspection revealed an obvious casting flaw in the U-joint, but Autozone would only cover the cost of the joint, not the shafts.

i cant stand autozone. Now advance on the other hand, i love. Always get discounts. On a first name basis with the Smarter guys there. and i bought a clutch from them once, got it all put it, had a weak pressure plate. which was new, called em, explained my situation, got the next clutch they had *another $100* at no additional cost and a $50 gift card card for my trouble. and if a part under warranty fails, and takes something else out with it, they always cover it. For me anyways.

As can anyone from any other parts store... I have had my fair share of 'know-it-alls'. It isn't always necessarily the corporates fault, but the local hiring manager's fault.

I got a starter at autozone. Put it in and nothing. Hooked it up direct and nothing. Took it back there and had them test it. they said it was bad. I got into a big arguement with the guy because he wanted to exchange it and not test the next one!! I couldn't believe this guy. I started getting really loud and the manager came out and did what I asked. I haven't been back since. screw autozone and their cheap crap!!
