AutoZone

Has anyone had any bad experiences from them? Today i went in to exchange my 2nd battery in two weeks and an employee was extremely rude and told me its not the battery its the fact that its for a saturn even though the battery hasn't been hooked up and would not hold a charge. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

I'd contact their corporate number or address. If you remember the employees name, all the better, I'm sure there are hard working, caring people ready to take is place. You may even get some sort of refund or discount from corporate.

They didn't get the term "Autostoners" just because it was an easy rhyme...

Auto Zone sucks! They always have cheap made parts or they give you the wrong part.

I went to one to buy a red top for my car. The sales person helped me put it in and it didn't work. Brought it back in and he claimed it was not the same one. I said he could check my car. He said that i had another person helping me. Pfff.. Your employee was standing next to me the whole time. Other than when he ran in to get a terminal cleaning kit. Needless to say he would not return or exchange it. Long story shorty i needed a new terminal wire after putting in my old battery and jumping it. I love autozone.

i've had good expierence with some autozones.

bad expierence with autozone, went to return a 2 year warrenty battery there, guy said he wouldn't take it back because it wasn't the correct battery for the car. i explain they all put out 12v. and the guy argues with me about it. manager took it back after we complained more.

the autozone near me always takes care of me. can't bash the company for the dumbshit employees that might work there. i've returned parts that were not returnable due to condition and they gave me new ones no problem.

oh, The only thing i go to Autozone for is Rain-X wiper fluid and headlights if they are on-sale. I almost exclusively use NAPA for any and all parts.

They are ok, I go there first just because they have less expensive parts. If I had more money I'd probably go some where else. I asked for an Inner tie rod for our escort and they gave me one that was "new" but looked like it was used. I really didn't notice that intill I got home. I took it back and they said I would have to come see the manger in the morning. I did, He took it back no problem....His exact words were "Probably one of our south siders".

Other then that I haven't had a problem. The N. Cedar one in Lansing has some Knowledgeable people there. The other ones are kind of hit and miss. As long as you know Exactly what you're getting You can usually get the part.

I was once stupid and thought that too.

I've spent more money replacing shitty ass autozone/advance auto parts than i would have buying Napa. My local Napa often has stuff for LESS than the craptastic ghetto parts stores.
And once you develop a relationship with the sales guys you will often start to discounts. Depending on who I deal with at my napa i routinely get 10-20% off of their store rate (which is less than what the website says)

Good point, I do shop around a bit before I buy a part. It just happens that most of the parts I am replacing are cheaper at Autozone. My wife and I are just starting to get on our feet Financially and the difference between the prices helps us. $15 or $30? I understand that I'll probably buy 2 or 3 of the cheaper ones before the nicer one but when you have 90 bucks to spend and a 50 dollar insurance premium and 20 dollars for gas that 30 dollar part just isn't attainable. Once we get a bit more stable we'll have the money in our budget to afford the better parts. I figure by then the crappy parts will need to be replaced so that's what we'll do.

What is kind of funny is how often people come into my place and are amazed we are cheaper the all the discount parts stores.

For the most part Autozone has been disant but I've had many problems with their batteries lately as well. There warranty hasn't been great on them either. They prorate it and charge you for the core when you return it even though you are bringing them a bad battery for return. I just stopped buying batteries from them. Napa has been very good to me lately. For all you GR guys the napa on Patterson has almost everything you would ever need given they are the local distribution warehouse.
