TJ cage question - Dash bar

97 TJ - Adding to the existing OEM stuff.

I'm tied into the frame below the A pillar, going up through the dash and tying in the existing A to B cross pieces that attach to the window. I am going across the top of the window with tube and I would like to put a piece of tube across the bottom of the window.

Here's my questions:

- how much room do I need between the dash and that lower window tube in order to take the dash off again in the future. (without cutting off that bar)

- How much does a dash bar restrict the defrost. I live in Michigan and I'm a mouth breather so...

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Mines' pretty tight to the dash, and what I did was take the two screws out of the center stack before I welded in the bar- but I put them back in, as they are removable when the windshield is down. I'll get an exact measurement later today if you want.

The defrost works fine, my bar is a touch behind the vents, and I can still get the center strip doohicky out with the windshield down.

Nice - Thanks for the pics. If you get a chance, a measurement would be great.

In the center, over the center stack, I have 1/2", and it's @ an 1/16th of an inch from touching the backside of the IP.

I think it is about 3/4" You need to be able to lift the piece up to allow the clips to release.

Mine comes out with no clearance issues, except the part where I have to tilt the windshield down to get to it.
