@Ironman Offroad
Not sure if we can rent him out. He fits in well with the "neither skinny nor pretty theme."

At the end of the day, thank you for bringing it for us to use. Bummer that we didn't get it back to you.
We can figure something out. I will be over on that side in Buchannon with my family next week for a few days. Is there anybody close that we can drop it with that you see frequently, or maybe I can try and talk the family into a trip to Holland.

The race was at 6pm and we were starting after the 40 or so Unlimited cars. There was a heavy downpour around 1pm that was heavy enough to leave a lake in the middle of the pits. It also poured as we got inline to start the race. This meant everything was extremely muddy and lots of engine and alternator killing water holes all around the course.

It's all a blur but this is what I remember.

We started 1st of the 5 mods, which was not our hope. We pulled into the rocks and slid off our line and it took a few attempts to get around it. As we cleared the rocks, we saw the shit show on the logs. I felt vindicated from last year as I got hung up in 2 races on them, and to see 10 or so Unlimited cars stuck on them was a good pride moment. Logs f'n suck.

Jesse got though the logs by sky wheelie-ing over each one. We cleared them quickly and were out of the bowl. After the only long quick section, we entered the woods were we already getting lapped by the leader. So we pretty much spent the entire race watching for leaders coming through and trying not to hold them up.

Lap 1 went pretty well. We took some time to clear the first ledge in the quarry but shot right up the big climb. Everything clean until we got back around to the logs on lap 2. We cleared the rocks and pulled up to the logs to find 2 mod cars stuck on them on the line we used the first lap. An Unlimited car was coming up on us, so we let him take the right line and then we followed. We bounced through the first couple of logs, and as we tried to bounce the third a mod car came sliding towards us and we both got stuck. They manged to get pulled out first, and then we were able to winch out, but found we had a bent wheel.

We hit the pits and changed and it were back out. We really had no idea where we were in the standings. It would be cool to see some lap times.

Everything went well around to the quarry. We struggled on the small ledge again and then hit the big ledge. We put it on our side, but Jesse was able to back off. They put us inline to winch so the leaders could get through. Rest of lap was good, had to hammer through the rocks and on to our 3rd lap.

On the third lap we got hung up near Purgatory where an unlimited car was blocking the line everybody was taking. Leaders were behind us, so we pulled to the side to let them through. A new line opened to the left and we took it. We got to the small ledge and took the Casey line to the right and cleaned it easily.

I hopped out to get ready to winch the big climb but the winch sections were being used, so we figured we would have Jesse give it a couple of shots and then back off. On one of the attempts he bounced the front up and while on the gas the front hit and it blew the front driveshaft.

He backed off and we pulled to the side. We asked what time it was, and it was about 1:45 into a 2.5 hour race. We knew changing the driveshaft was out of the time picture since we have to drop the skid plate to do it, and we were figuring that trying to get winched up the wall and back to the pits in 2wd would not end well and would likely only get us one place and not a podium.

Casey was coming up behind us, so we decided to call it and help him and other former TREC guys winch. We ended up winching cars for the remainder of the race.

Overall, the car was running good. We need to figure out how to fit a 1350 shaft up front. The jeep is running good, and I think we had a chance to win. In hindsight, we should have played it safe and winched every time, but we were running to win and didn't want to give up time sitting in line to winch.

You are their hero. Saturday night Jess couldn't stop talking about his wheel stand and asking if I got pics.

Yes the RZR picked up a couple hitch hikers.
Scooby ripped a link mount off giving U4 ride a long's and we popped out of the woods next to him and the guest rider. So the young kid got to ride in a U4 car and a sweet RZR...lol When we picked up Bill Baird I had to ask if he would be comfortable if I went fast back to camp. . He laughed and then yelled at me for getting him muddy, as he was covered from head to toe in mud already.... both very cool guys!

Another race weekend is here. We are running the Badlands night race with ECORS on Saturday night. We ran with ECORS at Harlan last year, and we love racing the Badlands at night. We are hoping they either run the Ultra4 UMC course or the long course that we ran a few times in the TREC series. So far there isn't a lot of info on course details, so we will see when we get there.

We finished up the mods to the car last night. We have a few prep items to finish up and we will be race ready. Mostly putting on panels and final checks to make sure we are good to go.

We ended up bumping to a 1350 non-cv shaft up front. We were running a 1310-cv shaft that I had been running up front forever due to space constraints. We don't have a lot of room so we had Joint Clutch & Gear in Romulus build us a shaft with 2"x0.120 tube. The t-case yoke we used needed some clearancing to get to full droop. We fully cycled it and it looks like we made it all fit.

One of the other issues from the Ultra4 UMC race was that our exhaust separated and was smashed by the link due to some failed clamps at the Y-pipe. The cross-over also interfered with going to a bigger yoke so we re-routed the cross over and rebuilt the pass side exhaust. We ditched the band clamps and went with a setup that has a bolt holding the exhaust tubes in the slip fit. After the race will evaluate how it's working.
