Still off topic, anyone know how the Summit Racing brand radiators compare to the Speedway Motors? I suspect they're the same thing with a different sticker, but don't know if anyone has personal experience.
I have a summit rad in my jeep. I think it was made by northern. Works just fine, but I ordered one size too big- I forgot that the steering shaft has to fit next to it.

I assume their "house brand" changes from time to time, but at the time I priced the part number that was on my radiator and I had saved significantly over getting the Griffin branded equivalent...I assume it was a cosmetic blem or something.

Thanks for the info. I was originally looking at Speedway but the Summit will end up being cheaper after shipping. Mine will be above the steering shaft. Between my steering box being relocated/rotated and me getting a shorter, wider radiator to clear suspension, I should be fine there.

Exactly, that's pretty much how hancho feels about anything he can't do though.

hmmmm ..... I wonder how long we can derail this thread.
I don't really enjoy watching biathlong, but its kinda cool in the sense that the sport evolved from people who originally were using XC skis to get out to hunting grounds. For that I think its pretty cool.

Michigan made Howe radiators FTW.

I've got Superior Radiator Service down the street from me and I was in there buying a replacement for my xj, they had 4 guys in there laying down the most beautiful welds I've ever seen. But it doesn't matter cuz you've already got the radiator.

Would a pusher fan make any difference? Mounted in front of the radiator? Keeps the fan cooler, but prob cut flow...? My only experience with an electric fan was a complete disaster....

Not really. I called them, told them what I wanted and it was competitive. Don't forget, many of the radiators from Summitt are glued/epoxied tanks versus welded.

I actually intend on looking into a new aluminum rad for my current YJ...after a mechanical fan failure one plastic tank on the OEM GM truck radiator is weeping a bit and I have a baller short X wide dual electric fan I'd like to swap to....Summit and Howe will be my top choices.

I usually cut the bottom corner on the tank and reweld it for steering shaft clearance. I like to use the biggest radiator I can fit

Moguls are dumb...super dumb. Now that alpine downhill is awesome...I can't do that I and like it, so I guess you are wrong again kickstan honestly I wish they would get all these x game type events out of the Olympics and get back into traditional winter sports. I think my favorite is short track speed skating...another thing I couldn't do

Moguls are not in x games, and have been in olympics for years....dummy.

I also like watching the short track, and I agree x game shit isn't olympics.

We just turned off primetime olympics because we are sick of snowboarding.

Yes I understand moguls are not x game shit, but I find it very dumb and not entertaining. Maybe it is the subjective parts that bother me. If it was just a race to get to the bottom over rough terrain, I'd be in. But the style points, and stupid everyone does the same trick jumps gets old. Old to the point I could careless if I ever see another mogul race. They should throw out style and just go by pure speed.

Btw, I really enjoy hyjacking this thread

Tonight we looked over the jeep, well, mostly the top side and the easy to see shit and it all looked good. We still didn't have motivation to dig deeper and drop the skid plate and get all up in her bizness to make sure she's clean.

Mostly we checked it over to see if anything would keep us from hitting the SoChilly run at R&V. It appears that it's not just good, but it's good enough.

Before the run, I'll throw in a fan and if I get super motivated, the heater. But I doubt I'll put the heater in, since I'd also have to commit to taking it back out. And that seems like a lot of work instead of just adding another layer of clothing.

Before the April 4th Ultra4 race at Superlift park, we've got a few things on the list:

Looks like we will need passenger side lower control arms. They make a frowny face from the DNF. Just need some bungs. We will stick with 2x0.25 because we have it, and it took 2 trips to johnson valley to bend them.

We also need to trim on the skid plate for driveshaft clearance. It's got a slight rub under some condition. We can tell by the witness marks. I guess this could be on the before R&V list, but that bisch is heavy.

Probably could use a new round of rod ends all around. They are getting a little clunky, and maybe even squeaky. She kinda sounded like a rusty swing set pulling into town.

We are targeting rewiring the switch panel. We have it between the seats right now, and it fully sucks. It is my most unfavorite thing about working on the car. I'd rather roll around in the dirty diff lube than think about working on the current panel. With the change, we will run the wiring up by the roof instead of under the car to keep it safer. Might even expand beyond 2 colors of wire. My T-rex inspired co-driver can reach the new dash, so we can move the switches there.

And last but not least, we need a new radiator. A zip-tie cutting incident left us with a large glob of jb weld putty keeping it leak free. This was patch #2 for the radiator, so it owes us nothing at this point. We were left down and out by the previous fan, so we're ditching it like the girl that wouldn't put out at prom.

What we are thinking for the next radiator is a 24x19 with dual 1 3/8" core and a 16" spal fan, with built in steam port, and maybe a compass in the stock. (Neither skinny nor pretty - gotta have big tubes, right?) We can't go wider (checked to see if we could roll with a 31x16 or 26x19, no dice) and to put a radiator behind our heads we would have to rework a bunch of crap... crap that we had a hard time fitting the first time, let alone find a 2nd home for.
