Default Vac just died, replace with a dyson dc25?

There seems to be a ton of mixed reviews about the DC25 animal. Anybody have this? Is it worth the additional $$?

Having a gray cat, and a white/black dog, pet hair is a problem of course..

I love my Dyson, I dont have the DC25 animal but a guy at work has it and says it works wonders. I have had my Dyson for 3 years now and it still works just as good as the day I took it out of the box. Well worth the extra cash for a good quality product

Yep works great for pet hair...With 2 dogs and 1 cat pet hair is our biggest problem too...Small rugs can be a pain though as the there is no way reduce the suction power. So you have to be careful not to suck up the end of the rug.

Most of the animal reviews reference the small collection container. Is this really a problem? Some people say the hair compresses more inside, so its not a big deal, while some say its a huge PITA.

Also, the cord length seems to be a problem.

my mother inlaw just bought an Animal and she told me it is the best vacuum she's ever had. she vacuumed with her old one, then went back through with the Animal and she said the canister was filled by the time she was done. also had some cool attachments.

The Kirby salesman told me that Dyson's voided your waranty on your carpet.
I wanted to punch him in the face though.
So theres that.

It can fill up fast, but only cause it picks up so much crap. plus it takes seconds to empty, so no big deal. Plus no more bags to buy and change. Cord length has not been a problem with us, but our house is not very big either.

I'll be over in 10 to test it out before I buy one.

I'm very interested in the outcome of this. I've also been looking at that model.

I'm pretty sure Sears has a 20% off thing going on right now.

I've had a dc17 animal for 3 or 4 years now. Only complaint I have is my wife and daughter keep vacuuming up shoe laces. After 2-3 times of this and the belt breaks and stores don't carry them. Other then that works get.

consumer reports rates the eureka boss very highly, and its priced well under $200. Nop personal experience with it, though.

this is correct. We sell these all day long. This was a very common question so I called several carpet stores in town, and they all said that will void the warranty. They said because of the power, it will turn your carpet into strings if it's brand new. Also if you use a dyson around the edges of newly laid carpet, it rips it up from the tack strips.

They are nice vacuums, and VERY easy to empty, we use one at the store, we have crappy carpet though. It's basically fabric stapled down. Let me know if you need anything!

Honestly, from what I've read the money isn't worth it. Some people I've talked with switched from the Dyson to the Bissell Liftoff Pet vacuum. That is what we have and it is freaking awesome! The power, suction and attachments are all A+ in my book. the whole thing pops out too so its easy to go up and down stairs and into cars with. My girlfriend and I HIGHLY recommend it.

The ball technology is over-engineered for its job. Until they make the vacuum wireless I don't see the ball technology being worth it. I don't vacuum the floor like I mow the lawn.

ok, time for some jewish math.

bed bath is running a promotion of 10% off $100 gift cards. So I bought three for $270.

best buy is running a special on the dc25 animal for $439 (normally $569)

so, here is how it played out.

$569 original price
$439 - best buy price match
20% off coupon brings the total to $351.20
with tax - $372
subtract the $30 I saved with the gift cards

Total - $342 out the door

And yes, the people behind me in line were not happy with the 15 minute transaction
