Default lost the keys to my truck

i recently lost the only keys i have for my 83 j10 does anyone know how i can get a new set without replacing the tumbler?

If it has the original keys and locks then a dealer should be able to make you a set off your vin if they still have codes.

Only if they have the codes going back that far. It is not real likely, but possible.

You will need a copy of registration, the title, and State issued picture ID IIRC to go that route.

yes, they can come out to your house and make you a key to the truck, its not cheap though. if you are able to get the door open, pop the lock cylinder out and take it to the locksmith, I paid $7 for a new key for my lock when I took him the cylinder.

changing the cylinder is easy. i would just get one from a junkyard.

that's a bummer, kind of funny because i recently got a new jeep with one key and am being very careful to avoid your situation. i would go to your local junkyard like stated above

In this day and age when even Wal-Mart makes keys for $1-2 would anyone not run right out and have a copy made? I have at least 3-4 sets for each vehicle - it's the very first thing I do when I buy a vehicle.
