Pad and Beth are pretty unique people. They have driven their "Rage Rover" from the Quad Cities to the UP for our cross-UP trip the last couple of summers. They are a VERY down-to-earth couple. Once you meet them, you do not forget them.

Trooper and Rattler,

Just great to see some "Rover Porn" on this web site.

Below are a couple of links to some more "Rover Porn." Sorry I could not use the complete link, cause Kelly won't let me post them until I have 5 post (Something about Spam).

You can actually find some older Discos cheap, you just have to know what to look for (which I don't!). I think they make good wheelers for the type I do.

discos are excellent as they have both 24spline axles and a lt230 tcase but if you want to keep it easy to work on shoot for 94-95 and always a series1(94-98.5) all range rover county/classic from 87-95 are good as well but 89-95 has a borg-warner tcase that will break with big tires or high hp. these two vehicles are almost identical as far as suspension and underpinnings. They are easy to maintain once you get the hang of them and are affordable once you get in the loop. but very few owners wheel them like they were designed so it does get attention on the trail especially when you are following a tj up a trail thats on 35's with 6in.lift and you are on pizza cutters.

Ok so here's a little more 87-88 have a very low comp.3.5 I will address this soon on mine but they do have the strong tcase. 89 have a low comp. 3.9 and the borg warner tcase. 90-95 rrc have a high comp. 3.9 and the bw tcase with the exception being 93-95 long wheel base that have a high comp4.2. Now for discos all of the series1 had the high comp. 3.9 94-95 were dist. With a simple fuel inj. System . In 96 they went to dist.less ign and more complex fi system as well as strengthened the bottom end blah blah anyways they renamed it the 4.0 but all of the discos have the lt230 tcase it is the same one used in the 87-88 rrc and all defenders. Now for axles all of the rrc to 92 have 10spline 93 up on all. Are 24spline. 24 spline setup is a must for upgrades like hardened shafts, cvs etc. But they share the same housing so you can retrofit. Hope this helps.

In my option the two best Disco’s are…

Discovery One 1999 - last model of the DI

Discovery Two 2004 - the last model of the DII and the only one with a CDL (Center Differential Lock) from the factory.
