Default After market fuel gage?

Anyone know of a good after market fuel gage? The CJ7 I have has an after market fuel gage on it, but the needle on it keeps bouncing around all over the place when I drive, so I have no clue what is really left in the tank. Some times the needle sticks on "E" and have to play with it to work again.

Thanks

Define "play with it".

You most likely need to clean all your grounds on that circuit. Common problem.

What I mean by play with is when it get stuck on "E" I some times have to hit the gas pedal and give the engine a quick rev then the needle starts to work again.

When I am stationary, the needle reads stays put, but as soon as I take off, the needle bounces around. Not sure if that is because the fuel in the tank is moving around to much or what. Also when I am stationary, the gage reads different levels of fuel in the tank. One time it will be 3/4 full, the next time it will be 1/2 full, then go back to 3/4 full.

Sounds like the gauge is reading whatever it is being told to read, even if it is intermittently. You need to inspect the wiring between the gauge and sender and verify that the sender itself is working properly. As I mentioned before, this is a common problem with CJ's.

Looks like that I will have to get that gauge fixed quickly. Ran out of gas on the way to work this morning when the gauge said I still had 1/2 a tank..lol. This CJ gets horrible gas mileage. 150 miles on a tank of gas..lol
