Default Aluminum Boat And/Or Outboard Motor

Probably a longshot, but the ad price is right.

Looking for a good, solid 14 foot aluminum boat in a deep-v hull style. No electronics, livewells, etc..., just a basic aluminum boat. This will be used in the lower Detroit River, so it needs to be solid & seaworthy. Jon boats don't have the necessary freeboard.

Motor-wise, the perfect motor would be a 15hp OMC or Merc in the correct shaft length for the hull. Again, good running condition, or a repairable unit may be an option. Experience shows that anything less then 15hp struggles with the current.

No trailer is needed.

Now the hard sell: Free would be a good price, although we may be able to work out a below-market price for the right item.

This would be for a local high school rowing team. Our organization is a proper IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so we can provide you with a tax deduction for your donation. Selling at a significantly below-market price also results in a level of donation. As always, consult you tax advisor, as I am not a CPA or tax lawyer.

Times are hard, and our fundraising has (not surprisingly) been affected as well. These boats are used for coaching and safety purposes (i.e. pulling kids out of the water should a rowing shell flip in April water temps).

So, if you've got a boat, motor, or both gathering dust and would like to do a good deed and gain a tax deduction let me know.

If you have anything else laying around that we could sell, that you would like to donate let me know. We've gotten a few such things in the past and it's worked out...

I have a 12' aluminum row boat. Has a very minor leak. Not the best looking, but would probably serve the purpose. I do not have a motor for the boat.

Interesting. Is it like a loose rivets type leak or an open seam leak?

I am pretty sure it is a rivet.

What kind of boat? Can it handle the Detroit River (i.e. decently deep hull - not a jon boat or the like)?

Please do.

I've been super busy myself the last week or two...

Not the best looking thing but with a little tlc may be workable.

I had planned on fixing this up for a little fishing boat.
I pulled the rotted wood of the top, the molding. and the transom.

Can get as many pics as you need too.

Thanks for the pics.

Looks too shallow for our needs (i.e. as a safety boat). We need to be able to pull 9 kids (between two boats) out of the river...
