I just watched a show on front loaders. They are having a real problem with mold/swamp odor because of the design. Consumers Reports has had so many complaints they are posting this problem in their reviews. FYI

You have to clean them every day. Wipe the seals out and drain the machine and clean the filter twice a month. Not a big deal. Our new washer has a drain tube and a screw on filter that takes 3 minutes max to clean.

X2 on wiping the seals and changing the filter.
It is also suggested in the paper work that comes with the washer
that you leave the door opened on it when not in use.
We've had our set for almost 3 years and I have never had a problem with stink or mold.
