Sams club sells a nice michilen racing style jack, its a heavy bitch its all steel. It has the speedy lift to frame. It was only 60-65 and if you ever have an issue sams will swap it out. Dont see it on there site, but they may still sell them?

When I was working at the dealer, I had one of the Harbor Freight 2 1/4 ton full size floor jacks tucked under my box so I didn't have to go looking for the shop one. Used the hell out of it and it still works 5 years later. They were on sale this week for under $40.

i have always used harbor freight for things like wire wheels, and bits for the die grinder.. or tools i am only going use once so dont need a super nice one. i have just never liked trusting my life (or my vehicles) to harbor freight equipment. not saying any of you are wrong... just have never been able to get the super cheap chinese concept out of my head. I will think about it.

I was gonna go buy a craftsman.. but they are not only expensive, but i have not been super happy with what i have seen from their stuff like that lately.

I bought a Craftsman it lasted 3 months. I only used it a handful of time in the 3 months I owned it. I bought one from Sams Club 2 years ago. No problems yet.

i believe my craftsman one was $180 bucks last Christmas and was on sale a week later for $150 so i got the difference. i seen it there at Christmas again for around $150 but i think i also seen a much cheaper steel one that also looked good and was your average full size jack. mine is has a pretty speedy lift but that's not worth $50 more to me. when i had been at harbor freight last christmas i remember their deals didn't seem good enough to not spend the extra on a craftsman but $40 now sounds pretty good. i'm also pretty leary about things that matter against my life but if you're just sure to throw stands under the car when you're working on one it shouldn't be an issue, any floor jack actually is sort of dangerous to use by itself without safety stands, so they say.

so they say??

a hydraulic floor jack uses pressurized oil, held back in part by rubber/plastic seals, to lift a couple thousand pounds...you would really trust that seal to not blow, spraying the oil out, and dropping a vehicle on your head?

I work on hydraulic systems every day, and would never trust any hydraulic system with my life

that said, I have no problems with the HF jacks....thier long frame jacks are actualy pretty good units.

I have had my Craftsman over 20 years works great. And yes, I use jack stands, not just the floor jack.

I have an aluminum one from HF and other than the rear wheels falling apart/off it works great. I also have an aluminum one from Snap On and it too had a wheel come apart.

I recommend the smaller one from HF, it is alot easier to lift the cars with. But might not be enough for heavier full size trucks. The Snap On one I have won't lift anymore than the front end of my 2003 GMC Sierra and it barely does that.

If I were to be on the market it sounds like I would be getting the Sams club one..

went through 3 of the Craftsman ones in about 5 years...2 of the rapid lift ones, and one standard...got another standard Crafstman one now (gift) that is about 2 years old, and has been leaking down for about a year...I wont buy the Craftsman floor jacks anymore
Got a HF one that has been holding up fine for about 3 years
