99.5 Jetta...like to trade for an XJ or other 4x4
First of all...I'm located down in Monroe. 15 minutes north of Toledo Oh, 45 minutes south of Detroit.

Drivers mirror glass...The camera doesn't catch it, but you can still see out of it. I use it ever day, it just looks bad in pictures.
I've pointed out all the bad stuff that I can think of, I wanted to get the pictures before it got dark. I buffed the car out a while ago, and it shines like crazy. There's very few stone chips on the hood, a few minor scratches...but it's a 10 year old car. So, plan tomorrow is to take some pictures of it all waxed up and such. It's going to look the same as the picture on top...but I figure it can't hurt right?
My dd, 1999.5 Volkswagen Jetta GLS...Figure it's worth around $3800 with both sets of wheels...Looking to trade only...
power windows/locks/keyless entry/cruise/ac/abs/front and side airbags/6 disk changer in the trunk. Does the cool windows down/up thing when you hold the key in the lock...and with a module that plugs into the obd port it can control them from the remote (I don't have this, but I always thought it would be a neat thing to pick up).
This car is the epitome of reliable. 170k on it...the 2.0 isn't a powerhouse, but it is known for it's longevity...as is the 5spd manual transmission. Some of the auto's have issues...but no worries with the manual. Doesn't drip or leak anything. Might burn 1/2qt of oil between changes. I took it to Indiana a few weeks ago, wouldn't hesitate to take it to California tomorrow. Goes through snow like a champ. Gets around 28mpg with lights and medium traffic every day. Fortunately, I only drive around 700miles a month usually...so I don't really have to worry about gas mileage too awful much.
If you're hesitant because it's a German car and they're "Expensive and hard to work on"...they're not. Some things are actually quite a bit easier. Ball joints are a cartridge type, and they bolt in with 3 bolts. Most other things are pretty ordinary...and pretty much on the same price point as any other car I've owned.
Things I've done...bought it with 145k...had a few little quirks...but just needed a little elbow grease and maintenance. I Changed out alot of stuff just to make sure it'd be a good runner for a long time to come.
Was told that the timing belt/water pump were replaced before I bought it, I never pulled the cover to verify.
ball joints 10K (changed them because I was already in there)
1.25" drop with tokico shocks/struts/springs along with all new strut bearings and mounts 10K

rear pads/rotors (axxis ultimates, have front pads too, just haven't had to install them yet) 2K
blower motor and hvac switches 3K

Battery is around a year old
Konigs are 17x7 I believe. 225/45-17 tires with around 85% tread.
Also have stock steel wheels/caps with 95% tread that I rock in the winter. Tires do great in the snow.
I have poly lower control arm bushings. I bought them because they might go bad in the future (due to mileage and crappy Michigan roads...they're still tip top right now though)..haven't had the time to put them in though.
I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting...but I painted the lower lips on the front and rear. Spray painted, color is just a touch off...but I figured they'd be getting hit with rocks and road grime anyways. The marker lights in the bumper are color matched, they still show through with the blinkers on. I blacked out the chrome portion of the headlights, and painted the grille black in the front.
Drivers heated mirror is turning brown...could use new glass. The clear coat on the passenger side mirror cap is chipping pretty badly, there's not a whole lot left on there. From a distance it looks fine, it could use a re spray though.
mirror switch knob broke off...I'm the only one that drives it, so it hasn't been a priority
Starter grinds on occasion, it goes away if you grease the gears inside...Did it when I bought it, it's coming back. Common VW problem...just needs more grease.
2 rust spots, one on trunk lid that I ground down and touched up, it's rough, could use some filler. One on roof about the size of a quarter. Surface rust, but it's worth mentioning

CEL for secondary O2 sensor. Originally on because I gutted the cat (it was rattling). Yesterday, I put a cat in, but failed to realize the angle of the bung I put in was off. Ended up smacking the perfectly good sensor against a speed bump on the way to work and breaking the end off. I plan to fix the bung and get it in the right spot, but the sensor is low priority since it doesn't affect gas mileage or function of the car.
Carfax shows a minor front end collision, drivers side. I looked the car over before I bought it...Drives straight, no frame bends or anything. The fender was bumped out and re sprayed, door was blended in. Looks like the lower control arm was replaced. Again, just something I figure is worth mentioning.
Basically, I kind of want to get back into a little light wheeling on occasion. I'm sure my wife won't let me get her Explorer anywhere near that stuff...so I need something that can get off the pavement when I feel the urge.
Looking to trade even up, or cash on your end. I want something reliable, suv or extended cab 4x4 truck. I don't want a project as this will be my daily driver. Must be mechanically sound. Don't want anything that's rotting to the ground either. Needs to have good tires, lifts/over sized tires are ok. I don't have my mind set on a make/model, just kind of fishing to see what's out there.

I'd really like to get back in to a Cherokee, pref. 4 door, Auto or stick is fine either way, nothing beat up or rusted out too badly.
