Default Fuel pressure regulator Duramax

Has any you replaced a fuel pressure regulator on a LLY duramax. If so what lead you to replace it? I'm having some issues with my truck and this is what I think it is.

I have shimmed mine, same as replacing pretty much. It would throw a weird code and rail pressure would drop until you restarted it. It would fall on it's face on top too but that was with much higher than stock HP levels.

The threaded end of the rail is tightened with the strength of 6 gods and it takes everything you have to get it loosened up. If you dont have access to the info to do it I can email it to you )if you PM me your email addy) or you should be able to source the DIY step-by-step on www.thedieselplace.com

I like the comment on 6 gods . I've been hangin lately on www.duramaxforum.com lately trying to figure out whats wrong. I have a Tech 2 plugged into the truck now and frp seems to be jumpin around. I'm also throwing codes p0404, p0401 and p1404. All EGR codes. I'm on my second erg valve now and it seems this one has shit out to.

It could also be your CP3. Mine had a weird idle and surged for no reason, I thought it was injectors or FPRV, took it in and it ended up being the CP3 regulator valve taking a crap so they swapped all of it out.

Do you have access to see the diagnostic info for those codes? If you do that should be a dead give-away as to what's wrong with it.

Ya I have full access to ALLDATA. The CP3 runs about $800 and the FPR only runs about $180 and takes 5hrs to do. It's located on the CP3.
