So what do you need for this? As you know I moved in the south and there are tons of old trucks, cars, and some jeeps. I see some mid 60's truck around here as well. I'm not saying for sure but I could check it out for you. Let me know what your looking for!

I would get a 77-87 frame with disc brakes. easy swap over + has disc brakes & power steering already. A friend did this with his 64 & turned out sweet.

Serious question, have you ever worked with your hands, of just sell insurance for fun?
Good answers. I haven't sold insurance for 3 years
Yeah, I like to work with my hands but would rather spend time with my wife, friends and family.

Just seems like a lot more "work" then one would want to spend but I'm glad you're having fun with it.

Hey Baby, er, BDR,

I found a decent frame three hours away for $400 - I'm just thinking of how sweet a custom frame would be. Plus, I think it opens up a lot more front suspension options for me.

77-87 frame is "bent" in all the wrong spots - once you get the cab mounts to work out, the truck looks like a 4wd with how high it sits. Frames newer than 72 require *lots* of work.

Well just remember I'm in NC and there is lots of older cars and trucks around here. Google Food Lion Auto Fair at Lowes speedway, heaven for car guys! Two times a year spring and early fall, more cars, trucks, and venders than I have ever seen at one place. I know somebody you could stay with!!

I highly doubt it. I'm sure tearing that rusty thing apart was just a snap of the fingers . . unlike most rusty whores.

Nice progress by the way!

Do not under estimate the awesome harnessed within me. It took just a little over an hour to tear the suspension off last night. Also, you misunderstand the level of rust; this truck is from utah and not really that rusty. I can get you shots of the cab floor and frame that still show 44 year-old factory paint.

I think I do have better time managements skill that you do, but I'm sure that comes from the choices in my life I've made. You seem unfazed by the sheer awesome at hand, so let me point out the progress that happened last night:

This:

to
This:

And, before you think I spent too much time and neglected family (and this is an excellent example, BTW), here is a summary of "my yesterday":

Work from 6am to 4:30 (we're expected to put in casual O/T)

Home by 5pm (did I mention my wife and I commute together? We get an additional hour/day most couples don't get) to make dinner for my BIL & friend -visiting from Moscow- They arrive @ 6, we eat & chat till 7:30. I head to the garage while they catch up - in Russian, so I can't follow unless they talk really slow - better to get shit done on the truck.

Put the frame on jackstands and cut the rear suspension out in about 20 minutes. It was mostly burning through rivets or coilsprings, so it was fast. On the front, I'm not sure what front suspension I will use and don't want to kill the crossmember, so I unbolted that. Burned through the idler arm and pitman and rolled the whole assy out the garage door. I was finished by 9pm, saw the guests off by 9:15 & showered by 9:30. Made a dish to pass for a holiday luncheon today and farted around online till a little after 10pm.

I basically parked a running, driving truck in the garage two weeks ago and now have it down to the bare frame. Forgot to mention that I've been cutting and splitting wood for the winter season alongside this project.

My god, I'm awesome. I need to look into getting my dick bronzed.

Why bronzed?

And yes I noticed the tanks in the first pic so that clears up a lot of questions. :tonka:

Nice progress, Scooter. I'm a little jealous of your awesomeness. If you get done with this project too quickly, we could use some help with Mira's XJ (FYI).

I can't wait for the first time you try to sit in your new car after the restoration.

Bronzed - it's an old joke, perhaps before your time (?) Not that I'm much older than you, but my parents are so old, they fart dust.

Awesome progress. I can't wait to get a real barn to work in, progress like this would be much easier to make when I can just have the space to work!

I have a Model A you can start on next

Trust me, I need more room- I think I have 3x the amount you do, so I sympathize.
