Looks quite a bit different from the last time I saw it. Not only does does it look like a truck again, but there's two! Congrats on the damn good work.

Cooler started in '04 but you should have heat.

Closer... wanted to get it driveable before the employee auto show tomorrow - but - there's just too much left to do w/o cutting corners. Today I tackled most of the bed - I don't ever want to fukc with another wood bed again. :banghead:

The mini-tubs are for suspension clearance...

Thanks! Going to paint them body color and try to "Faux-tina" them to blend in a bit more.

I think I'll keep it patina / work on a fake patina scheme since my wife has her own truck to paint. (the 1964 C10 we just got)

goddammit.
Rear springs are too soft - ordered new ones from speedway, should be here today. Have the wiring 50% finished, battery mounted between the front seats - just a few finishing touches before it's back on the road.

Speaking of springs, do you have a use for the 2" TJ rears? If not, I do.

The ones I bought from Scott? I ruined those trying to make them fit.

I still have the stockers I need to return to him...

TOnight I got the tailights installed and the rear springs removed; the spring I got for the truck are too soft - and I'm beginning to wonder if they're really Jeep Cherokee springs.

I got one of the fenders painter over the weekend to try to faux-tina....

how do you do that? throw eggs at it and let them bake in the sun? Mist it with acid and gasoline? media blast it from a few feet away?

A lot of guys start with red oxide primer as a base coat, then spray the correct color primer over that & top it off with a stock oem color. Then, you get to wetsanding the areas you want look worn - going to whatever layer you want - the red oxide layer to imitate rust.

As for this one - I'll wetsand to get any sheen off and then experiment with different "contaminates" like rubbing in black dirt, different colors of charcoal, anything that will make it look as shitty as the finish on the rest of the truck.

Scotch Brite

Man I am liking this thing. After I crawled out from under the TJ last night I sat down and daydreamed about actually getting to work on mine.
