Ive learned 1 thing so far in life. If you see something you want to buy, buy it right then and there or give a deposit ASAP!!! If you don't its YOUR FAULT if the item gets sold out from underneath you.

What it really boils down to is, Ohio Guy stated in his thread that he didn't think the Jeep was road worthy due to the fact he never drove it more than 10 miles on the road. My brother in law went with cash in hand intent on driving this Jeep home. My husband and brother in law thought they were going to Ohio Guys house to view this jeep and work the deal. Only to find out when they got there that it was his cousins house and Ohio Guy wasn't there at all.

A deposit wasn't left because the cousin didn't feel comfortable dealing with money. It was also Ohio Guys offer to deliver the Jeep for gas money and complete the cash transaction upon delivery which was accepted by my brother in law who made arrangements with my husband to be there as he had to work. So really all the cash in hand and deposit comments dont make much sense to me when I've stated clearly what happened, but maybe now I've explained better? Anyways on to looking for another Jeep 4x4 whatever.

At the end of the day this post was started really to prevent other people from getting screwed over by this guy its just a headsup he's a snake. But thats completely up to you if you want to deal with him. We wont be. It is a good thing to see there are still honest people out there though!
Maybe I am smarter than most, but I got that out of the first few posts.

X eleventybillion

Save the complicated "My cousin’s girlfriend’s stepdad will deliver your grandfather's uncle a hamburger on Tuesday for the money today" type deals for friends and family. I mean really, who would you rather get screwed by, a stranger or someone you know?

Seems someone who "do deals like this all the time" should have known to expect problems when they looked at the heep and could not take possession right then as planned.

Yes a man should honor his word, but this is America where the dollar rules. These kids are just following the lead of the thieves on wall street. Better get used to it.

I'm not disagreeing with you because I know what you are saying, but why should this type of thing continue to be accepted? You are correct that people are adopting this attitude and it seems to be spreading. Maybe I'm too old school I guess. I don't want to see this as ok. If people just continue to accept this mentality then your word and a handshake meaning something is going to die completely. I personally can't accept that.

You are a minority that actually takes time to read before they post. I do that too! Thank god some just don't so it makes their bile spewing all the more funny and makes me feel like I have to reiterate myself in simpler laymans terms!

I agree it should not be accepted, but it is what it is. It is discouraging that kids today are willing to sell out their integrity for a couple bucks. Still, greed will never go away and one must always be on guard in any dealings with others. In the scheme of things little harm was done here except to the sellers reputation. It is not like money is being fought over or a vehicle changed hands but was not what was promised. Seems negative Itrader feedback is exactly for this type situation.

OK This should be the end. Let's let it rest everyone knows of another bad guy in the community and have the heads up. I would like to say Thanks to those that are still old school and honest. I was raised that way. I agree the new generation is twisted, I am kinda young myself and I complain all the time what are youth are doing.

I do feel that if an honest guy does not put up a fight then the bad apples will take over.

Thanks again for your support and to those who do not We warned ya.

Thanks all

In all honesty, your word is your word. Since nothing was on paper, I would have called the first guy up and presented him with the situation. If he would have made a deposit via paypal that would have sealed the deal.

X2. he could have given the option to the OP, who he already struck a deal, and agreed to the deal with.

sounds like ohio guy is just a common money hungry greedy bastard. He fits right in with our government.

Let's play devil's advocate here for a minute......

Say Ohio Guy held up his end, and Ridin Dirty & co came down and either decided the jeep was a POS or didn't show.

Ohio Guy has turned away $1800 for $1300 that vaporized. He can call Mr $1800 and hope that he still wants the jeep. Odds are, there is no sale and we are reading a thread about a douchebag buyer.

All I'm saying is business is business, Yes Ohio guy should have called R.D. & co or at least waited for them to show up and let the bidding war begin.

I've been on both sides of these kind of deals. Hate to break it to you, but sometimes deals go bad. One time a co-worker literally raced me to the bank to buy a car out from under me that another co-worker was selling. I was pissed, but then realized I should have 'put a ring on it' so to speak. Another time a used car lot had a crew cab Chevy I wanted, I offered to put 1/2 down as a deposit (that was all I could get from the ATM and I didn't have my checkbook with me, I had spotted the truck when I was out driving around) the dealer wanted cash only, in full. By the time I got back, the truck was gone.

I've held parts for people from this site and others, my rule is if you say you will show at X time and date, and you don't show or call, it's fair game. If several people are coming to look, first caller gets priority, if the others want to stand and wait they are more than welcome.

This deal, however, had too many goofy things going on.

Finally, that YJ would have made a terrible first Jeep. Stuck in 4 low, even the owner admits he wouldn't drive it on the street, Hell, it even had Thornbirds!

Go back and re-read. They already seen it, a deal was made. Ohio guy said he would deliver it.

That's the goofy part I was referring to. They wanted to leave a deposit, but the cousin didn't want to hold money.

That would have made me a bit wary right there when the owner couldn't bother to be there.

HE DIDN'T OFFER YOU SHIT. You told him to come up with the $1300

BTW dirtass, I had a verbal agreement to sell my WJ last month for $4700 with a GL4x4 member from the west side of the state. We had agreed he would pick it up in four days (sight unseen, this going back to being honest, and me telling him what he was buying).

In the four days following I had a Gl4x4 member offer me $5200 and a guy on craigslist who had already looked at it told me he would give me $5500 cash to pick it up.

Now if the guy on this site who wanted my WJ was saying he was "thinking about it" that is a much different situation. However we had agreed on a price and a time for him to pick it up. In my mind the deal was already done. I agreed on a price, he was going to get the money and we had a date. The thought never crossed my mind to do sell it from underneath him.

the OP posted the pm's you sent him, and you told him to come up with more money and he could have it. Well he did come up with the money, then you agreed to meet him, then you pulled a very dirtass move.

You're getting a retard tag.

Sorry but you have No Deal without a depoit on a sale. When I'm selling a car I ALWAYS tell people to at least leave $10 - $20 to show me they are for sure coming to get the car later.

Keep looking RD, you'll find a better Jeep anyhow. My buddy just picked up a XJ with 7" long arm for $900!

So, say you see something on craigslist you like, you email them, and show up, ready to buy it, but they sold it to someone else. Thats fair? considering you didnt put a deposit down?

Huh? They had a date to meet, they had a time to exchange money for a vehicle, and it was all in writing. That is a sale.

Yes it is fair. If I had some body coming out to see a item I had for sale and I sold it I woulld call them to say "It's sold don't bother coming to out to see it."
Like I said "No deposit = No sale made"
