Default buying new truck have a ????

im looking at a 1997 3500 with a 6.5 in the truck .the truck from texas so its a clean truck. i dont know anything about chevy truck i always bought ford so my ? is are these good engines trans .thanks for any input

The 6.5 is a good motor. It doesn't have too many problems, but it also isn't very powerful and I don't believe there is much aftermarket for it. If I may ask, since you are a Ford guy, why not get a 7.3 Powerstroke? Much better motor IMO.

yea i do agree with that but im doing an even trade for my 2003 excursion
so i dont have to do another car payment

I take it the excursion isn't a diesel? In any event, you shouldn't have any problems with the 6.5. How many miles are on it?

The most common problem with the 6.5 is the pmd needs to be relocted. They are onthe bottom side of theintake and get hot and will cause your truck not to run. google heath diesel . They sell many after market parts and the relocation kit for the pmd as well .
