Some people do yes, example would be expedition type vehicles or your average outdoorsman. Someone who, at times, will be traversing loose sandy soils and does not want to be aired down constantly during their journey. These also work well in snowy conditions where traction is lost or the powder get's deep.

My father caries a set in his stock Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 while on state land hunting. He has used them more than once over the last couple years he has had them.
