Sweet. Reminds me of this.

Id bet it cost him a lot less to make that than the brute kit too. No roll protection though.

and the brute does ?? once you chop up your oem cage to fit the brute kit that rollbar aint nothing but looks.. and im guessing whoever built the blue one, used the cab closeout from a brute kit.

I thought the brute had a hoop around the rear of the cab under the top.

you take your stock cage and cut the rear down bars.. the whole thing seems VERY flimsy to me .. stock TJ cages are nothing to brag about to begin with... that blue one has some down bars at the A pillar too..

x2 Ive seen some stock cages get mangled pretty easily. Still an awesome truck, and a good price too.

The one advertised actually looks like it may have a better cage then the brute pictured.

Personally if I was going to wheel it I would have down bars going bac into floor of bed and the front down bars go to the floor it's self. Other wise work fine for street driving the way the cage is in the blue one.

So you own one of these (along with an LJ)? I checked out these tops in-person on a couple occasions, and they're very nice. I'd like to get one for my LJ someday.

No smart ass i installed one on an LJ.. installation was a PITA the fit was poor.. and the use of Styrofoam blocks to fill in the gaps and unless you HEAVILY coat the edges with RTv or similar i could never see the bulkhead sealing. for the price of the top it shoud've be A LOT higher quality issued.

I'm going to assume you are the one that contacted the Gr8tops owner about my post, he's a hell of a guy i spent a good hour on the phone with him when i did the install. it was fun to share an email conversation with him about his product.

Well, MATT just updated me and explained the top i installed was a GEN 1 top the newer tops have the ears formed in and no Foam blocks are needed.. the top itself has seen some updates and all of the minor fit issues have been fixed. Again the guy knows how to run a company!

It was a legit question (not a smart-ass one). I thought you owned an S-10, not an LJ. Your extra info/detail helps (vs. just "POS"). I'd look at the newer-gen one that's 2 1/2" longer (I'm tall-ish). I wish I could afford one!

Silly boy - don't assume anything. Matt couldn't recall you being a customer, and was trying to figure out who you were.
