Default vibration

ive got a 2000 gmc 4x4, 206000 miles,
its got a bad vibration in it,
it only vibrates when your on the gas going faster than 35 mph if you let off the gas it smooths out.
any ideas?

Pull the drive shaft and check the u-joints.

any idea what area its coming from? driveshaft u-joint?

i was thinking driveshaft also i crawled under to shake shaft and it doesnt budge.
so im not sure if its that or not. feels to me like its in the front but its just ahrd to tell.

you can't tell just by shaking the shaft. when u joints go bad there are 2 ways they do so. they become loose, or the get very stiff not allowing any movement. when they get stiff they cause a very bad vibration under load. you need to take the driveshaft out, and see if the u joints are stiff or if they move normally.

You need to take the driveshaft out to see if one or both of the u-joints have a stiff spot in them, if so replace them all and you should be good. You can't check the really with the driveshaft in the truck.

ahhh ok, that i didnt know, i guess im pulling a drive shaft today then. thanks guys. really apprieciate the advice. im betting thats what it is then . ill post it later if thats what it is. thaks agian

Also if they have never being replaced you will need to heat up the drive shaft around the u-joint cap to melt the plastic lock ring out or you will never get the u-joint out with out f-ing up the drive shaft. Make sure you let the shaft cool before pressing the u-joints out also.
