Axle tube help

Ok, here is my situation. I decided I was ready to upgrade my D30 in my JK. I found a JK Rubicon D44 take out that the owner had sleeved both the inside and outside of the axle tubes. This was part of the selling point to me, as I wanted to have a strength upgrade, but didn't have the money to spend on an aftermarket housing.

Now to my problem. With the inner sleeves, the upgraded 35 spline RCV shafts I bought will not fit into the axle tubes. Is it possible to bore out the axle tubes to make the shafts fit? I'm in southeast Michigan, is there anyone who knows how to do this, or could recommend a place where I could have this done? Hopefully without costing a small fortune!

If it can't be done, or if this is something that will turn out to be expensive, I'll most probably look at trying to sell the empty housing, and scrape up some more money to buy an aftermarket housing, but would like to make this work if possible.

Thanks for any help and advice that everyone on here might be able to give me!

Eric

I don't have any helpful info, but I'm curious.

How far off are they from fitting?

They are probably off by about an 1/8 or maybe a little more. The front axle I purchased had the complete RSE bombshell kit installed on it, where with the 35 spline RCV's are pretty beefy, and just will not fit because of the inner sleeves. I just didn't do my research well enough to find out this combination would not work. Totally my fault. I'll try to get some measurements with some calipers hopefully within the next day or two to get an exact measurement.

Plato2K5, that's what I'm hoping to be able to have done, pending I can find a place to do it, and that it doesn't cost a small fortune! Do you know anywhere that does this?

35 spline ARB. This is my weekend toy and DD, so I would rather try to build to not break, versus being rushed to fix.

I took measurements tonight. The inner diameter of the axle tubes are currently approximately 1-7/16". The 35 spline RCV's are 1-9/16 at their largest point. So I was pretty damn close at eyeballing it at about an 1/8".

Next question, bore it out to 1-3/4", and have 3/32" around on all sides, or should I plan on the RCV's having a little more run out than that, and go up to 1-7/8" bore?

I'll have to call Advantage and see what they say.

Pic of most of the goods! Just gotta save a couple more duckets and get my ARB here!
