I have a chance to get a 97 silverado with a vortec but it has a bottom end knock my question is. Are the early 90 blocks the same or different?

if its the 5.7 then its a no brainer. the blocks are the same from `86 forward and the ones after `92 don't have a fuel pump port for the mechanical ones. just use a block off plate on the older ones.
